Default Warranty?

I just purchased the samsung 1600, Is it worth getting the insurance from best buy for $29 for 2 years or just stick with manufacturers warranty, I believe it's for one year? thanks

I just re-newed my best buy policy for my sony 350. Although I haven't had one problem with it, you read all the time on here about people having a problem with this player or that player. I say better safe than sorry.

Some credit cards add one year of additional warranty to electronic items that are under a certain price range.

Extended warranties are a total waste of money. Go get a couple blus instead.

I remember my first laptop that I paid $400 for extended warranty and it was well worth it because I had to get it fixed several times until they finally gave me a new one. It's different with the new replacement that I got warranty for as well. The warranty ran out and never need fixing. With my 2 tv's I paid nearly $1000 warranty for both. It's a crap shoot. It's gives you a peace of mind though. I got a month to decide.

Why did your lap top need to be repaired so often? Did you drop it, dump coke on the keyboard or stick a pen through the screen?

I've never got an extended warranty on any CE product that I've bought and have never needed to get any CE product repaired except my retired Sony AVR that was five years old and would have been beyond the extended warranty period anyway. Solid State electronics just don't wear out that quickly.

As far as a blu ray player goes, it could burn out the drive motor or the laser but if it does then just go get the new model that massages your feet while you watch the movie.

The laptop just kept freezing up, I've taken it 3 or more times and they replaced the mother board once or twice within two year period. Then when it happened again they just gave me a brand new gateway which I bought an extender warranty for which is now expired and my laptop still running good. If the sproduct I buy is expensive I always buy the extended warranty just for my peace of mind. The samsung is not that expensive but the warranty is only $29. I will get it just for the reason that I don't need to mail the unit that I can just take it to best buy for repair or replacement.
I'm sure I will upgrade soon but I doubt I will get that special feature.
