It is with great sadness that Andrew Fletcher of Depeche Mode has passed away.
He was 60 years old.

The second concert I ever went to was DM's Black celebration Tour. Then every subsequent tour afterwards all the way to Delta Machine. Totally gutted by this loss.

I became a Depeche Mode fan at the age of 11, back in 1983, when I saw the music video for “Get the Balance Right!” That is still my favorite track from the band to this day, but I own and love all of their albums past and present, and was fortunate to see them three times in concert, in 2005, 2009, and 2013.

This news about Andy Fletcher was a gut punch this week.

I am saddened by this. I knew of the group around the time of Violator and upwards. I've owned some of their records and recently saw the documentary 101. My hometown was featured pretty prominently in that documentary. As was a local famous landmark. That landmark has just closed its doors recently. It was not known for Depeche Mode or any of that. They stuck out like a sore thumb in that place. The last time I was in there before they closed they had K.D. Lang's latest, one of Prince's recent releases, and one of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers' releases. Really odd. Boy, the times have changed.
