Will Amir leave AVS once HD-DVD goes down in flames? - Blu-ray Forum

Seriously, once hd-dvd is history, what will be his purpose there? Pimping VC-1? Continue to bash BD even though the battle is over?

Also, I would love to ask Amir if the Xbox 360 can be made profile 1.1 compliant once they give in and release a BD add-on.

Presumably they will set him to work extolling the 'virtues' of 720p downloads on Xbox.

No. He'll do a complete 180 and become the biggest advocate for all things Blu-ray.

As far as I'm concerned, mentioning him here elevates him to a status he doesn't deserve. IMHO.

What everyone here needs to do is talk more about Blu-ray and less about HD-DVD!

It has been stated by one of the insider's that some things will not be forgotten and we all will not be walking hand in hand into the sunset when this is over. Not a direct quote but that is the gist. One would ASSUME so of the B.S. slingers will not be let off the hook. I agree to let Amir talk go, let him have his funkies at AVS not here.

Microsoft is already blowing it on digital downloading... the Xbox 360 isn't enough to support Xbox Live and TiVo is a stay at home project as well.

Apple has done a much better job of integrating digital downloading into the lives of _human beings_. iTunes is far more robust and influential largely due to Apple's approach to giving the added value of _portability_ to digital downloading. Something Microsoft has been totally incapable of doing.

That said, I'm pretty sure Amir will simply shift to trying to save VC-1 and HDi on Live vs. iTunes/Apple debates.

Afterall, Microsoft is still completely pissed off about Apple snagging Quicktime as the ISO standard (AVC).
