Remastered Swedish Films on Blu-ray from Majeng Media

Apparently Majeng Media is planning to release a wide array of Swedish films during 2022, remastered and for the first time on Blu-ray. Sällskapsresan (which have been released before) is the first one and it is already out.

The other titles are a bit more interesting.

I think this is great news. Finally we can own these films in HD on Blu-ray.

I'd rather have had Studio S put out some of these titles than Majeng. I reckon these will only have lossy audio.

Wonder if some of the Hamilton films will be available in their longer TV mini-series formats and not just their theatrical versions (Vendetta), I see Fiendens Fiende isn't among these so I guess I don't have to worry either way about that one.

Studio S would undoubtedly be the better choice, but to be realistic, the premium treatment can’t be made to every release in a small market such as Sweden. These will probably be quite cheap. (Hamilton is listed at 99 SEK)

I just hope that they all have good HD transfers and solid audio. And if they could include the longer cuts of the Hamilton films that would be great, but I sure doubt it.

Yeah, I too doubt the longer cuts getting released. I'll probably pick up the Skarsgård titles listed first and foremost. I've been waiting so long for Den Enfaldige Mördaren already.

A bit odd SF licensing out Sällskapsresan. Thought that would be a title they'd cling to no matter what. If they were open to that I would have thought they'd let Majeng have the sequels as well and possibly put out a box set of it. On the other hand they might put them out later individually. EDIT: I see the SF box is still in print.

Anyway, I just hope they're all 1080p/24 and not 1080i/50.

Kvarteret Korpen is a must-own. The 4K restoration is fantastic.

While I do welcome Bert: Den sista oskulden, I think the original TV series really deserves a good restoration. It was shot on Super16 but edited on video so the available masters are all in 576i with letterbox bars. Having the negatives properly scanned in 4K and then recut the episodes would take lots of time but it is doable. Both the series and film are very much like live action comic books. Very surreal and fun to this day.

I wouldn’t say that many of these already had releases on Blu-ray. Sällskapsresan is in fact the only one. I don’t know if the transfer of Sällskapsresan is better, worse or the same as the older SF editions.

Well it says remastered on Sällskapsresan and I hope it is. Many swedish movies is getting new 4k masters and this would be on my top 5 for that. Fingers crossed

Don't go by backcover, from dvdcompare: Packaging mistakenly states the audio is Dolby Digital. Sällskapsresan for one is Swedish LPCM 2.0 mono now

Wish someone could give "47:an Löken" and "47:an Löken blåser på" an HD upgrade. The two DVDs from Film Factory leaves a L-O-T to be desired.
