Default Video Download vs Amazon Purchase

I was reading another thread and not to or anything, I wanted to post another thread about this issue.

A lot of people are pushing that the future is downloadable content, including HD movies. I personally don't see it as a feasible option. The files are too big, you have to store it, something could happen and you lose the file permanently.

So, I have been thinking. What is so different from downloading vs buying? I have Amazon prime. I can get my movies tomorrow for only 3.99 or in some instances, only 1.99 plus the cost of the movie. No downloading necessary and no taxes. It shows up at my door, hard copy, cover art, ready to play!

So, a turn around time of only 1 day. Is that really, that bad?

I will make this a poll just to see what people think.

For most people it takes forever to download movies. The internet speed isn't so mainstream and fast enough to make downloading movies feasible as a main option to replace discs. Imagine how long it takes for most people to download 25-50 gig of a hidef movie? The cost of hard drive space for hidef movies and time to download makes this not a viable option for sometime coming.

Firstly, downloading a typical 25GB of content is a time and space consuming task.

I would most likely want to burn it to a disc. Tends to be more expensive than buying the movie. Then I need a blu-ray case, print my own artwork which is never as sharp or has that nice shiny metallic look. Not to mention the cost of a case.

That is fine when I convert old family video to HD in a few years, but not now. But if that lets me watch Transformers in HD, I'll let it d/l all frikken night if I must.

Drinkmore, you sure that is a horse? Looks like a white lab rat.

As I posted in that "other" thread...

Buying the Discs at BestBuy and the <20 minute drive home = Mega-Crazy bandwidth/throughput!
PLUS I have the factory pressed Disc!

Don't do Amazon, but you get the idea.
