Surprising announcement. Jaws is one of my favorite films. Hopefully a 3D Blu-ray will follow as well.

The title should probably be something like "Jaws (1975) getting 3D re-release in theaters" so people don't think it's a re-release of Jaws 3D (the 1983 sequel)

I can't believe Hollywood is still converting catalog titles to 3D. This is awesome!

I actually saw this conversion on a LinkedIn filmography the other day and assumed it had to be a typo. But it's not! So it looks like Stereo D is responsible for the conversion.

Wow, awesome news indeed! Just watched the conversion of Jurassic Park last night for probably the 20th time too, more Spielberg 3D is excellent news. I’m thrilled to see continued focus on 3D and conversions… but at the same time it’s a little bittersweet because the odds of a home release seem so low. I can’t see them doing a release of just the 3D disc, and the 4k disc seems like it was too recent for a reissue in the declining physical media msrket. Maybe if it comes in some sort of Ultimate Collector’s Edition like the Friday the 13th set? I’d buy a box set for $100 bucks just to get this conversion, as long as it’s halfway decent.

Again though, it’s great news for 3D and evidence of Hollywood’s Avatar 2 push moving ahead full steam, and I hate to look a gift horse in the moith so soon with speculation/anxiety about a disc release.

I truly thought legacy conversions were dead. Wasn’t Terminator 2 the last one? That was half a decade ago.

Last fall there was a conversion of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone for it’s 20th anniversary, but it got a pretty limited theatrical release in 3D and of course never got put out on disc or digital.

Think I'd rather see E.T. in 3D. There's enough 3D movies with sharks in them. But they made their choice and an interesting development nonetheless. Hope they have some success with it, and the door remains open for catalog conversions.

... after re-watching Treasure of the Four Crowns, I'd kinda like to see Raiders of the lost Ark in 3D.

Blimey, that's got to be one of the biggest 3D release surprises ...ever?! Is this the studio anticipating Avatar 2 breathing a massive lease of life back into our format and them being ready to ride the wave early?

Not sure what Jaws in IMAX is all about though. The film was shot anamorphically on 35mm, so 2.35:1 is its full (and only correct) aspect ratio. But anyway, if this news is accurate (it does sound bizarre, but I'll happily accept it), I hope it's not just the US that gets to see this. (If that does end up being the case, I'd say it more than makes up for those over there bemoaning the Region B locked No Way Home: As far as I'm concerned, Jaws is one of the greatest movies ever made and, if a 3D conversion could be as meticulous and compelling as Spielberg's Jurassic Park's, then this could be the greatest cinema release of all time!)

If it's going to be only cinema and not a disc then as much as I hate it, I will be going to watch it. Just hope I'm there when everyone else is home. Hate the talkers and phone users around my parts.

No way I would ever miss a chance to see one of my all time favorite movies in 3D. I loved this movie in 2D. Can't imagine the joy of watching it in 3D. WOW.

Wait so is this different from the other Jaws 3D that gets mentioned on this forum a lot? I've never seen a Jaws movie after the original.

Jaws 3 3D is on blu ray 3D (strong to very strong filmed 3D), while this is Jaws 1, being converted into 3D by Stereo D, likely through the influence of Spielberg.

September 2, 2022 for Jaws 3D, hopefully worldwide and with showtimes throughout the week.

Put it out on 3D Blu Ray and I'll buy it, otherwise I'll never see it.

This is extremely good - and quite frankly rather shocking - news! Agree with Telegram Sam - if this could be on par with the legendary Jurrassic Park conversion we are all in for a big treat! 3D FOR EVER!

I wonder if Jaws in 3D will show at any screens other than IMAX, nearest one is 2 1\2 hour drive.

Wow, they made the effort to make a conversion. So I would not wonder to see a lot of movies also from other studios to get a 3D re-release soon. Thinking about the latest "Mortal Kombat". There is already a 3D conversion for this and they canceled the 3D showings right?

Hope there is something bigger behind all this, and this is not only a very limited time cinema thing. Would really love to see new 3D TVs out there in 2023/24! A lot of new 3D discs, Disney+ 3D, could be a avalanche of new 3D content
