My copy from Grindhouse Video has the 12.5mm case.

My only criticism is that I wish they hadn't shown the aliens directly. I think it would have been far more scary to keep them ambiguous.

I A/B'd the 4K stream briefly with my Imprint disc and it looked pretty close on my 110" screen. I know it says UHD on Prime, but are you sure this is the new transfer? I'd like to see a few more screenshots. This movie's a favorite and the Imprint disc isn't fantastic, but I'm past the point of being able to drop $25 on a double-dip every time a favorite movie gets a better release.

Same, years ago I wouldn't think twice, even for a few new interviews. It has to be pretty loaded now, and I don't rewatch a lot of movies and features like I used to also. My attention span is short with all the streaming and youtube options.

I only had this on DVD, then a few years ago, I purchased a digital copy just because it was the only way of having it in HD. I hesitated in buying this till I read reviews....and then you all here sold me...I ordered.

Lat night, I sampled my new copy, and WOW....it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL! SO GLAD I bought it. I would still love to see some comparison caps from Caps-a-holic to the OTHER bluray release I keep hearing about....but I'm thrilled to have this one on physical media.

So if I understand correctly the Shout Factory disc has a significantly better transfer and the Imprint disc has a little bit better special features?

The Amazon Prime UHD version is not UHD. The Prime version of Fire in the Sky is 1080p. It exhibits the same film gate frame movement seen on the Imprint version. How to tell? Well, with the new Shout Factory 4k remaster the film's title cards are rock steady on screen.

Amazon is notorious for mis-labelling UHD on titles that are 1080p. Another title that is not UHD is the new 007 movie No Time To Die: it's 1080p in spite of Amazon's 'UHD' label.

Yep, it's not even close. The AU disc is an over sharpened mess.

I cannot imagine this looking any better in 1080p. Solid "A" release from Shout.

I've never seen this movie but now that I know ILM did the effects, I really wanna check it out. It also just sounds cool lol. Those caps look great as well. AU disc looks pretty bad in comparison. Especially this one. Yikes.

I just ordered this excellent film and I am excited to own it. I will not be upgrading it if a 4K U.H.D. ever comes down the pike. The Blu-ray is enough.

On a different note, I don't believe Travis Walton was abducted by aliens for ONE SECOND, but I've always enjoyed this flick for the same reason that I enjoy episodes of The X-Files.

Much like possession movies or movies based on haunted houses, I, too, don't believe in the idea that it could be real. But I have an imagination and the stuff gets me intrigued.

It's funny; there's a feature in the Shout release that isn't in the Imprint version; the "Cinematic Abduction" thing.

Yeah, the "select scene commentary" from director Robert Lieberman. I haven't listened to that yet... is it just pulled selections from his full audio commentary on the Imprint disc, or is it actually new?

I kinda regret going back and rewatching the ending on YT without seeing the entire movie. It's one of those scenes that needs to be seen in the moment after all the buildup to really resonate. It's such a slow burn, dreary film. Watched this at least twice in the theater as a kid and it was pretty frightening. Have the digital hd from Vudu but might eventually get the blu; haven't seen the entire movie probably since the original theatrical run. It's one of those movies I'm not sure if it'd still be quite as impactful now as an adult, but it was among the more disturbing I recall as a kid.

Sure it's still impactful if you can appreciate the art and craft of the film and how everything combines on screen! I don't get "scared" watching it but man is it ever great. All I do is appreciate it more these days.
