Just watched it again this week, actually, and marveled at how great and film-like the 2012 "70th Anniversary" Blu-ray looked. Actually said to myself: "can't imagine this looking ANY better on a 4K disc". So you're welcome, everyone: I directly challenged the universe and the universe answered.

Happy to see this arrive on UHD, though I think I’ll still keep the Premium Collection BD as I doubt all the bonus discs carried over. Though part of me would like to see Criterion release it (they did a laserdisc in the 80s.)

I wonder if WHV would license this to Criterion for the US. Criterion released it on laserdisc, just like they did Citizen Kane, and they've been trying to get as much back from those LD days as they can. It's a much bigger title for Warner, so it seems unlikely, but WHV in the US is a shell of their former selves, so who knows.

Yeah, that was one of my first thoughts. It would line up pretty well with what should be a big month for Criterion.

A Criterion edition UHD would be excellent!!! If nothing else, the slip itself will likely be as gorgeous as the last 2 Bogart criterion releases and look beautiful on my shelf.

I guess a 4K release of Casablanca to coincide with the 80th anniversary was pretty obvious in hindsight.

The 80th anniversary of The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp is next year, so hopefully that could be a good 80th anniversary edition next year.

Between this, The Lost Boys and Poltergeist, Warner Bros have truly got me in a chokehold. Kinda praying that at least one of these tat-laden collector's editions is really ugly so I don't feel compelled to get it.
