Awesome, it'll probably cost a total of $250 + Shipping for all 5. I'll be picking up the Godzilla Blus only. Hopefully, Yesasia.com will get them cheap. What sucks is that they are not releasing all the Godzilla films in order.

Toho never did this even when they we first releasing them on DVD. They seem to just pick films at random (although sometimes they were timed with the new movies; if I recall correctly, MECHAGODZILLA and TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA were both released on DVD when the 2002 GODZILLA X MECHAGODZILLA was released in theatres, and the same happened with the original MOTHRA when GODZILLA MOTHRA MECHAGODZILLA: TOKYO SOS opened in 2003.)

Yeah, just pre-ordered them from Amazon and they're about $250 after shipping. A lot of money, but it's Japan... though the Gamera sets are much cheaper.

Is that for all 5 or just the Godzilla Blus?

I look forward to the Godzilla Vs. Biollante Blu-Ray. I might pass on the Japanese Gojira Blu-Ray since Classic Media is releasing it four days later here in the US. So, Godzilla Vs. Biollante and Godzilla: Final Wars for me. I'm holding out on Mothra and Rodan. If SONY is releasing Mothra here in the US this year on DVD as originally planned, hopefully they release it on Blu-Ray too. I just bought the Classic Media Double Feature DVD of Rodan and War of the Gargantuas back when it came out in September of last year. For the $18 I spent on it, I'll hold out. Hopefully Classic Media will have more planned in the following months, hopefully around Christmas.

Good luck on that with Godzilla Vs Megalon, Godzilla 1985, & Godzilla Vs Biollante. Here's to hoping that SONY doesn't screw up and obtains the Japanese audio for Godzilla Vs King Ghidorah, Godzilla & Mothra: Battle for Earth, Godzilla Vs. Spacegodzilla, & Godzilla Vs. Destoroyah and also the uncut version of Godzilla 2000: Millennium. And to hoping that they put accurate subtitles on the Blu-Ray releases because they f***ed up big time on the DVDs with the "Dubtitles".

They just are. The DVDs are like that too. Toho doesn't subtitle them because of them losing money off of importing. They want you to buy them in your own country. But the thing is, Godzilla doesn't get a lot attention outside of Japan, China, Australia, and the US. He's been getting a little popular in some European countries like Germany and France. France even released Godzilla: Final Wars in theaters back in August of 2005. Australia has also released most of the Godzilla films except for Godzilla Vs. Biollante. Godzilla Vs. Biollante seems to be the oddball in terms of getting the shaft on releases. I have the US VHS release by HBO and Dimension Films. The best thing about the US VHS of Godzilla Vs. Biollante is that the film is in Widescreen. I'm not sure if Harvey Weinstein took the rights with him when he left Disney. Supposedly, this is only a rumor, but Quentin Tarantino tried to have Godzilla Vs. Biollante released on DVD a couple of years ago but failed.

Lossless for all. Nice. I can live without 5.1 or higher (mostly because I don't have a 5.1 system at my house), but lossless is always nice. I can always use the Watchmen Blu if I want 5.1 goodness (rocked in theaters). Classic Media had better bonus features for Gojira 1954, but this release looks good. Explains why the US was getting a release soon: Japan is too.

Makes sense. People would be remembering the stars of those films, so it would be smart to release older films starring them at that time.

That is why I'm cool with buying Japanese releases. I might just get G vs. Biollante, since I never saw it.

That is why I might get G. vs. Biollante when it comes. I'm tired of waiting for a US release on DVD (along with G 1985). I defintely don't want to get a bootleg, for both moral and quaility reasons. I mean, bootlegs are only on DVD and HD-DVD (). I might hold off on the other films and wait for a box set (which might be crazy expensive, but they'll at least be together), but I will almost definitely get G vs. Biollante and G 1985 when it comes.

Yeah, well, given how early it is in the Blu-Ray life span, I wouldn't worry about piracy on this format for another two years tops.

I'm grateful to how much home entertainment has improved since DVD came in. With Godzilla, we were stuck with horrible Pan and Scan copies that there in horrible shape and sometimes really dark. Plus stuck with the English dubbing. I do miss the AIP/Titra dubs that are not present on the SONY DVDs.
