Very much agree - the railing looks really cool in front, that doesn't really seem like a conversion but more of a complete perspective rebuild!

Glad you guys liked it. The spaceship from oblivion was probably one of the hardest conversions i've tried.

So I've finished Pulp Fiction, part of Shaun of the Dead, Animatrix, decided to pull another 8 frames from a different movie - any guesses based on my depth map here haha?

I still have some frames to do, but pretty soon. I'm excited to put this one up on the projector, I've purposely not looked at most of yours so I can see them on the big screen first

So I'm pretty rusty at this, but I figured I'd at least give something simple a try. Here's a shot from the awful One Missed Call remake:

Hi Tigermoth!

I do still have plans to put this second video together, I've been training for an IronMan event coming up in less than a month, with work and my son it's pretty much taken over all of my free time and when I do actually get a few minutes, I sleep LOL.

But this event is on 10/5, we're getting into the colder months so the constant outdoor biking, running, swimming will be brought indoors therefore will be less consistent, and I will fall back into our project.

I feel riddled with excuses, I apologize to you and the rest of the group here for being absent for so long. Honestly kind of excited to get back into the swing of things, and discuss future endeavors.

Default Converting to 3D yourself

Is anyone aware of software to do your own conversions on existing movies?

I know there was a member, can't recall who, sometime back who actually went through and did depth maps in Photoshop or a similar program for almost every frame.

The stuff the professional companies use is proprietary and still extremely work-intensive. There's a reason these things are often split across multiple groups in multiple countries or even multiple conversion companies. Sadly it's not something that's a very practical "DIY" project unless you're gonna spend over a year on a movie.

I thought there might be some software that does what the auto-convert on TV's do but also allow you to tweak spots. Too bad that there isn't.

Sony Vegas will do it, or are you asking about converting a Blu-ray? I have used Sony Vegas to convert some vacation videos and they came out pretty good.

I was asking about converting a blu-ray. I would like to convert some movies to 3d that won't ever be converted professionally.

Good news everyone! AI can create depth maps for us so we can pump out 3D conversions much faster.

Depth models like MiDaS are pretty good at replicating 3D conversions like how we see it at the movies.

I made 3 pics for The Dark Knight Rises:
