Kind of a wasted opportunity to not include the color version as well. Does Sony not have the rights to that somehow? The Image BD is OOP, so I'm not sure I understand their reasoning for not including the original version as well and/or at least releasing it separately. I've never seen the film personally, so I'd like to have both versions

Just laziness, I'm assuming. No legal reason they could release this and not the color.

That's what I figured. Pretty dumb. This probably would have been better suited for a release from Arrow, or SF, with both versions included, and new extras.

The B&W is his original intention but the cut is the same as the theatrical release. Also, Longo said in his audio commentary that there is NO director's cut, not even the Japanese version, since he was never given the chance to present his own cut as he was pushed out the door before he could...

I'd like to see this film, so I'll check out the B&W version.

Same here. I almost imported the 101 films release from the UK, could still do that I guess.

Totally agree. This is kind of one of those cult films that isn't great but has a big, loyal following, and Arrow & SF (and some other companies) really excel at releasing those. You are right— missed opportunity.

I agree, they should include the Theatrical Version (Color).

*Fun fact, because this film was shot within multiple years and in between Keanu's other films you can see his weight fluctuate throughout the film. In some scenes he looks really skinny and in other scenes buff.

I have an import, recently released by a UK label, but it is said to have a mediocre transfer so I haven't bothered with it. IIRC I think I may have walked out on this one so I'm not sure why I even bought the Blu-ray (I think it was the packaging). I'll try to watch the film to see if time has been kind to it - and determine if a double dip is in order.

Man people really do love to hate on anything.
"But why" Because other people do not have the same opinions as you?
I have the image blu and I look forward to this too.

God forbid a director revisit his own movie and change the colors! I love to be angry!

While I think more power to 'em for directors to go back and changes films as they see fit, I still think it the studio should include the original theatrical cuts, as the films were originally presented in theaters and previous home media. If the theatrical cut was still in print, it would be a different story, but I can definitely see the annoyance that the version people remember watching isn't even available.
