Default Anybody like coloured vinyl

I think it's really cool. There seems to be a lot of it available these days. Some new releases even come with more than one colour option.

Anybody else like them.

Yup, I like them too, but I avoid picture disks like the plague even though some are quite cool. I have noticed from my experience that sometimes the splatter or swirled color disks tend to have more problems like surface noise, scratches and pops though, and it's nearly impossible to visually see these defects in the grooves like with standard black vinyl.

Pretty much what just got me into vinyl! I keep seeing all these sweet editions with different colored vinyls and even splatter patterns. Didn't want to miss out!

Mondo puts out some really nice editions!

I go black every time it's available. One single colour is fine but I don't like those splatter multi-colour records, very gimmicky. Picture discs I've avoided for decades due to (often vastly) inferior sound quality.

Definitely not into the picture discs. I agree the splatter is a bit gimmicky. Hook will be my first splatter record which I just ordered from Acoustic Sounds.

I like them all. When I buy a picture disc, I usually have another copy that I can listen to. The picture discs just look really cool. Splatter vinyl seems to be a new trend and I've got some that I really like.

Mind sharing which splatters you have? I'm slowly building a list. Of course, many seem to go OOP rather quickly and end up on eBay for crazy amounts of $. I missed out on the Jurassic Park one which I believe had three different variations.

Another vote for
- colored vinyl is awesome
- picture discs are pure garbage

Probably the most beautiful colored vinyl I own is the RSD reissue of Pacific by 808 State on "pacific ocean blue vinyl".

I'm not a fan of discs filled with any kind of non-PVC material, but my brother in law has a pretty big collection of such records, such as ones filled with gunpowder or shredded currency.

While I tend to prefer the traditional black vinyl, Color/Splatter vinyl are cool editions, especially when I pick one up not knowing and pull it out of the sleeve to discover it's some of kind of limited edition color.

Translucent colored vinyl is probably the coolest looking to me.

Most recent colored vinyl I saw that made me want it more was a Target Exclusive Gold Edition vinyl for Fleetwood Mac's Rumors. I already own 2 editions of that album but I still felt inclined to get that one just because it was gold.

Off the top of my head, Slade and Canadian band Teenage Head have put out some that I have. I'm not sure of what titles but, you can probably use Google if you want the specifics.

Default Like others have mentioned

I try to stay away from picture discs, but I do have a few that I plan on selling/trading in. Also as others have said, I don’t care for splatter discs but have quite a few of those, mostly newer soul or funk. One of them (Penrose Showcase Volume 1) is god awful, with the color splatter bulging all along the edge and way too much surface noise.

I’ve also had more sound quality issues with opaque colors than translucent.
