Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke called the project a “home run” in a statement, adding, “Not only is it a nod to fans of the original, but it is also a big, fun, broad audience movie.”

I actually just watched the original again a couple of days ago, and it still surprises me that it’s yet to see a UK Blu-ray release (I’ve got the German Blu).
A UHD has to come out at some point…

As for a remake, well, we’ve had a sequel that sucked, so we may as well get a remake that also sucks.

Between this and doing that Michael Bay movie, I think Gyllenhaal has given up being in critically acclaimed movies and trying to win an Oscar. Now he's looking to get PAID. He wants that Gerard Butler/Liam Neeson B movie action hero money.

It's basically code from the studio that they are changing all the things people liked about the original.

Although with Liman involved I'm slightly optimistic. He's made some great movies, but he has also had some big misses lately.

I like the writers they got for this at least. They work with Shane Black a lot.

As for everything else...no thanks. Sounds better than when they wanted to do the Ronda Rousey one but this is still ugh sounding.

I enjoy most of his films especially "Go", but he seems to be swimming in films at the moment. Everest is in the works along with another remake he is directing The Cannonball Run.
