I find movies like Evil Dead or Braindead to be just comedies, they are so into slapstick comedy especially the two Evil Dead parts. Great fun to watch but comedies. And yes Nuit et brouillard is horrific, but it's not a Movie that was made in the sense of the Hollywood production, it's hard to count a documentary about the Holocaust alongside entertainment. And i find Salo to be very violent but it's not in terms of blood it's all kinds of violence committed against humans, but the strange thing about Salo is it invites you to just observe and distance yourself from whats happening and that is the psychological genius of Salo. It makes you into a voyeur of Nazi torture and bystander of executions and that is a direct criticism of Society in general and of Italy and Germany at that time.

But i think Cannibal Holocaust is shocking because it's a nightmare for every PETA member. And maybe the score of Riz Ortolani has something scary about it beign it's so easy in contrast to the violence, and yes i think it's by far the best made of the Cannibal Films it's use of the cinema vérité technique it's by far one of the better examples of camera use in this direction not like the Blairwitch nauseating camera. And take for example Platoon the shooting of the pig as they enter the village, it allways reminded me of Cannibal and with the fact that Oliver Stone knows the Movie? But with Cannibal only parts of it are genius other things are just plain stupid but it's exploitation and it has made a lot of Money it's unverified but there are rumors about $200 millions worlwide and that would be serious money for a movie everybody seems to hate.

That's Fascist torture, not Nazi. The whole Salo movie is an insight into Italian Fascism.

Yeah but the use of Orff music in the torture scenes is more of a Nazi thing.

it seem like OP is lumping "gory" with "violent".

some may consider "Passion of the Christ" to be very violent in that sense.

"Schindler's List" was pretty brutal to some.

"Irreversible"

I'm due for another viewing of Irreversible. My coworker wants to prove his salt by watching it. He's one of the most emotional people I have ever met so it should be interesting. He was squirming at the violence in Doomsday...

i know it was very cartoonish and cg with the way it was filmed but 300 was extremely violent. i'm not talking about gore but straight up violence. that movie was pretty much beginning to end even if it was obviously fake. i had a huge grin on my face that whole movie the part where the dude cuts the guys leg off and the leg goes flying. i was like wow.

Sorry, Bro. I've seen Punisher:War Zone. Oh, it's violent as hell, but I stand by my RAMBO comment ( and it's way more violent than just the .50 cal scene. That was just the icing on the cake).

What makes you say it's the most violent movie ever made?
