I haven't watched these since they were airing live in syndication. I really need to grab a copy.

Don't waste your money. It's only sixteen episodes (as only 16 were dubbed into German) and some of them are even cut.

Where does this information come from?

The German press release from Pidax states, that all 44 episodes are included, uncut. But only the 16 episodes that originally where aired in Germany would have the dubbed german audio, the rest of the episodes would be included only in English with German subtitles included. So far there are only very little information on the news article. It states the series would be remastered, but the series would also be released only on two discs.

Therefor I would guess it’s most likely SD on BD. But Pidax is at least a quite well known local boutique label, I have a few releases from them, which are at least watchable.

Most likely yes; Amazon.de is distributing Pidax titles and so far it looks like a regular wide release, not limited to a certain retailer or shop.

It’s now listed already in the Pidax Shop; it’s very expensive and they don’t state that it’s only SD on BD, but with only 2 Discs included in the set, how could it be not?

Yeah that’s my guess, SD like Tales from the Crypt. I’ll wait for Amazons price. I’ve always wanted to watch these uncut (I catch it on the horror channel and I’m so sure they cut bits).

These are almost certainly the same "HD" versions that have been circulating on private torrent sites for months, which were sourced from streaming services. They are only marginally better than the DVDs.

They already released a DVD only. And this only contains 16 episodes in their German version:

That’s correct. But the new release is nevertheless the complete show uncut. Those are two different releases. Many local German collectors who bought the DVD already are currently complaining, that they were not told about this upcoming release before buying the DVD.

Now my question, the DVDs I suppose they are NTSC to PAL standard converted. Will the BDs be in 1080i60? 480i60?

According to everywhere including Amazon it's two BDs. Now I'm not sure 44 episodes @1080i is possible. So I'm guessing this might be a SD on BD type release, and at 82 euros is an easy pass.

I intended to pre-order this until I saw the price.

It's a show I've always been curious about, despite hearing mainly negative things about,) with being a big Freddy fan in my teens especially.

I suspect this will get another release somewhere in the world and be spread across more discs.

I have no issues with the price. People expecting $20?

The press release said it will be presented in 1080p at 23.976, which is verrry suspicious. The series was shot on 1 inch video at 60 frames per second, transferred to 16mm for all post production and transferred back to video for distribution. For this to be proper, it would need to stay at the 60/30 frame rate.

There is speculation that this may not even be officially licensed. My guess is they are taking the Screambox rips and converting them to Blu-Ray compliant. If that's the case, some episodes are still cut - missing footage and what have you.

The Screambox versions were 1080P at 29.97, the correct frame rate.

Yes, that's why I was asking. Thanks!

Probably anything shot on film was 30fps, and the rest/videotape/SFX either 60i or 30fps generated.

Like Buffy/Babylon5/ST:The Next Generation/etc. which have their SFXs in 30/60i on NTSC DVD, and temporally downconverted to 24fps on HD
