Default Sky HD Vs Blu-ray

is it fair enough to say that watching a film on Sky HD would give you a good idea how the film will look on-blu-ray ?

Has anyone compared the difference between the two ?

Well there are a lot of technical differences.. For one, Sky HD only broadcasts in 1080i, whereas blu-ray is 1080p, so straight away there is a difference in picture quality. Don’t get me wrong, Sky HD looks great but also the audio on blu-ray would also be superior. There are probably others here that would give a better analysis of the two, but bottom line is blu-ray is better

Hi,
SkyHD is great quality, but I think there is still a significant improvement when comparing it to Bluray. I don't know or understand all the technical stuff that gets spoken about, that all goes over my head, so all I judge it by is by what I see with my eyes and the series LOST is a great example.
On SkyHD LOST looks great on TV, but when you watch it on Bluray it almost looks like you can climb into the television. IMO I'd say for this the improvement that you see from SkySD to SkyHD, well, add that again (and probably a bit more) and thats Bluray. Obviously different movies or shows vary in how good the quality is.
Well, I hope this very simplistic way of looking at it helps, especially if your as bad as me as to understanding all the technical stuff!

There's also the HD audio that you don't get with cable, iptv or satellite (yet).
