Default Whats going on Curious Case Benjamin Button Region Coded why?

Isn't this a paramount movie

Or is it because its criterion releaee its region coded?

Because i just don't get it. Paramount usually is region free

Ughhh...

The UK and the US discs have the same extras.

In fact, David Prior (producer for both releases) stated that Paramount was almost near completion with Benjamin Button before Criterion stepped in.

Criterion changed the US/Canadian audio codec to DTS-HD MA.

If Criterion did not step in, both releases would have had Dolby TrueHD audio. Criterion also uses region coding due to the fact that Criterion does not have the rights to 99% of their film catalog worldwide, just in the US & Canada.

Oh, and Paramount is not always region free...

Dexter (produced by Showtime Home Entertainment) is region coded.

And Paramount has also started including PAL formatted material...

How To Lose Friends And Alienate People includes 576i/p PAL extras.

Wallace and Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death is 1080i/50.
