Default Sequels with 'original' titles

Whatever happend to Rocky 6, Rambo 4, Star Trek Part XI - The Beginning?

I think I like the new titles, especially when the sequel is good. Rocky and Rocky Balboa are great IMO. They could be sold as a 2 disc set. (But I do enjoy 2 and 5 quite a bit too, and 4 and 3 are okay as well)

Are the names of sequels like "Fast and Furious," and the others, clever? annoying? stupid? acceptable?

What will be next that doesn't have a digit or Part after the title?

Can they make Rocky Balboa 2?

The Terminator's next sequel to be called "Terminator"

I like it sometimes, particularly related to your avatar, but it can make the sequence of movies a little more confusing to keep up with. Especially with a series of movies you aren't a big fan of. A good example of this for me would be The Matrix trilogy. I was disappointed with both of the sequels and therefore I don't watch them much. Now I can't ever remember between Reloaded and Revolutions which is part 2 and which is part 3.

Never remembered Alien and Aliens having this kind of title. Brain-fart I guess. Those two are cool and have simple, cool titles.

Just add "er" to the end of the original title, and compound that for each sequel. After 3, or at the end of a series, it becomes "est".

So: Alien becomes Aliener, Alienerer, Alienest

The Fast and the Furious, The Faster and the Furiouser, The Fastest and the Furiousest.

Rocky, Rockier, Rockiest.

See... it TOTALLY works.

So then would Alien 5 be Alienerest or Alienester or Alienestest?

"Final Destination 4" is going to be called "The Final Destination".

I vote for Alienestest.

Saw that. Kinda lame. Most movie sequels must be named by the guys from the band Days of the New. (Check out their discography if you don't get the joke.)

After a long break, the numbers after the names are seen as scary to virgin viewers

That's why for the longest time anime series that released across 3-6 volumes would only have volume numbers in the catalog number, because the stores felt it scared people off seeing "volume 5"

They also may want to distance themselves from previous abominations

I actually like that title. I think they've gone as far as they can with that movie series, although if this IS the FINAL, Final Destination, looks like they're going out with a bang.
