That sounds like they've come up with a plan for how to make the show available on streaming.

I don't think it would take a "plan" to reboot it, that's why I tend to think this refers to a plan for how to stream it, given the enormous music licensing issues that have kept the show out of circulation for years, apparently. He also posted a photo of Shepherd and Willis from the pilot, so I think it's about the original show. I sincerely hope their plan doesn't involve cutting or replacing music.

I also hope they finally restore the correct audio to "The Lady in the Iron Mask." That episode was mistakenly put on DVD with the original, dreadful, rejected score, not the replacement score from the broadcast version. I have the broadcast version taped off Lifetime from when they aired the whole show repeatedly from 2000-2001. But I'd love to have a digital copy of that episode with the correct music.

The dangerous thing may be that the precedents for the fees for the countless pop songs in the show were set back in 2005 with the DVDs. I hope Disney is willing to pay big time.

I've read that something awful like that happened with the original Stepford Wives film, which is now owned by Bristol Myers Squibb, the pharmaceutical company. Paramount paid them millions in 2003 to briefly license the film for a DVD to tie in with their remake. Nobody has been able to license the film ever since, because BMS still demands the same obscene amount that Paramount paid in a different home video world.

If they work everythng out with Moonlighting, however, it should be amazing to have the show remastered in HD from the negatives.

I have the complete series on DVD (UK DVD set), not watched them yet but does anyone know if that set had the original music intact?
Be great to have a blu-ray upgrade (and how about Crime Story and 3rd Rock From The Sun while you're at it) but that's not really how these things tend to work anymore.

The US DVDs from Lionsgate had all the original music, except for one episode, and that wasn't a pop music licensing issue, it was just a mistake.

That episode, "The Lady in the Iron Mask," had a first score written and recorded, which was rejected by the producers. Then it had a second score written and recorded, which was used for the broadcast version. The DVD mistakenly used a copy of that episode with the first rejected score.

The UK DVDs appear to have also been released by Lionsgate, so I would think they'd be the same, except sped up by 4% for PAL.

Ah, yes, that's the one problem with the DVDs. They aren't technically "complete."

Many of the episodes ran short, so they filmed standalone introductions with various cast members standing and addressing the camera, to fill time and pad out the episodes.

These were all cut from the DVDs, for some odd reason.

I can't remember how many there were, I don't think I've ever seen a complete list.

I had them all on VHS, I videotaped the entire run of the show when Bravo ran it in 2000-2001, but I threw out the tapes when I got the DVDs, except my tape of The Lady in the Iron Mask, because I had already read about the music issue.

I'm really happy this series is coming to streaming, but the never-happy part of me wishes we were getting a bluray or even another DVD release.

I got quite lucky last month and found a great condition Seasons 1-2 on DVD at a local game/movie store for like 10 bucks! My girlfriend quickly pulled it from my hands to make it a Christmas present, but I'm so stoked to own it. I'm so happy to hear that the original songs are on the DVD seasons. That would have been a deal breaker, I think.

‘Moonlighting’ Is Coming To Hulu, Finally

For the love of Maddie Hayes, look what’s coming to Hulu: For the very first time, all 67 episodes of Moonlighting will be available to stream on the platform beginning Oct. 10.

Hulu promises that each episode of the comedy starring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd has been remastered in HD from the original film source. It will even feature the original Grammy-nominated title track recording from Al Jarreau.

Oh dear. Not surprising, but not promising.

I'll be thrilled to have the show in HD, but any music replacements will be painful, the songs are all integral to the fabric of the episodes.

At least I hope we'll get The Lady in the Iron Mask with the correct score this time.

Not sure if I saw any episodes, but Willis was pretty underrated as a comedic actor.
