Okay I don't know how many people on here played Soul Calibur III on the Playstation 2.
One thing that I really liked, although many hated from what I understand, is the Chronicles of the Sword mode, where you defend these towers. Here's an image to show what I mean. ![]() Now my question is, what are some games like this? not necessarily games like Savage Moon and Pixel Junk Monsters where you just set up towers to destroy incoming armies or whatever. But where you send your men out and they fight on their own (or you can fight them yourselves) to prevent them from taking over your towers, and eventually your home base? Someone said Sid Meier's Revolution or whatever. Not sure about that one, but might download the demo to check it out. |

Have you tried: Bladestorm: The Hundred Years' War...? It seems similar to what you're describing. You control a character on the battlefield who orders troops around. I think there might be a demo on the PSN store, anyway.

![]() It sounds like you might enjoy RTS, or real-time strategy, where the action is constant and fluid. I'd try Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3 or Tom Clancy's EndWar. I believe there are demos for both on PSN (I know for a fact there is one for C&C). Or, if I'm not picking up your request properly and you're looking for a more open-ended, issue-commands-and-attack-type game, try Overlord or Overlord II. |

![]() I was actually surprised and impressed with the demo. Being a somewhat slow, careful strategist, the demo alone seemed to take about 2 hours. ![]() |

![]() As far as being similar, as I said, the Kessen series is the closest you're going to find - order your troops around, and mix it up in person when you feel like it in real time. Overlord 1 & 2 are both excellent games, as mentioned above, though there isn't an overworld map per se - Overlord 2 in particular is quite a bit more cerebral than SC3's milquetoast Chronicles of the Sword mode. EndWar is probably a better bet than C&C3: Red Alert for someone who finds even the stripped-down turn-based gameplay of Civilization : Revolution to be too complex. |
