United Kingdom Phantom of the Opera - UK-Version

Does anybody own this disc fomr EIV? According to dvdtimes.co.uk the disc was announced with DTS-HD Master-Sound and I was wondering if it actually came out that way or if the audio specs were changed for the release.
Thank you!

I've got the UK edition and it has DTS-HD, which sounds amazing...and LOADS of extras!

IMO, the Japanese disk is better than the US and UK disks. PCM and TrueHD, with the PCM track being the best of the two. The TrueHD track sounds muted and muffled in comparison.

Damn, I just looked at mine: DD 5.1.

How can I get the UK edition? Or better yet, is the Japanese version in Japanese or is it English produced strictly for the Japanese?

Answered my questions?

Costs $48 from Japan to the US

Japanese subtitles which can be turned off

Region free

A much better audio then the U.S version. I have sent an e-mail to the company to verify the Audio

Considering ordering just to hear the difference

Anyone out there?

Am I stupid considering spend $50 to hear the difference between the US and Japanese version of Phantom?

The only reason I am considering this is because my wife and I love the Blu and if it sounds that much better, it might be worth it.

What do you think?

OK, no one stopped me.

I ordered the Japanese version, shipped for 4400yen which is about $45.00

It will be interesting to hear the difference in audio between the US and the Japanese versions.

The differences between the US and Japanese disks audio will be quite plain to hear. The Japanese disk has Japanese menu's and will start with Japanese subtitles, but these can be turned off.

Any difference in the extras or pic quality? Both are phantastic (sorry!) on the UK blu.

Anyone got cover art for the Japanese release?

Haven't watched the extras, but I would say that the picture quality of the Japanese release is better than the UK and US releases.

Have not seen the "extras" at this time BUT TrueHD 5.1 or PCM 5.1 was enough of an extra for me.

but the current price of the UK is 64% off of MSRP - that's very tempting, but with the Japanese edition having the 'better' picture quality - I'm not sure which one to purchase.

JimShaw - where'd you purchase your copy (from Japan) the P&H from Amazon.co.jp is ridiculously high.

I ordered from http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/ and found them to be the cheapest after adding all the fees.

It was expensive, about $45 but my wife and I loved the US version and I wanted the audio to be as great as the move.

"Better" PQ? I don't think there is much of a difference if any but I am not a very good PQ source for info. But the AQ in the US version vs the Japanese is like night and day.

somehow the "Region free" denotion flew over my head - yes, the UK edition is Region B locked whereas the Japanese import is region A.
