Default PS3 AV multi out?

Does anyone know if the ps3 AV multi out will be the same as the AV multi out for the PS2?

I have monster component video cables for the ps2. I was hoping I could use the same cables until I buy myself an HDMI to DVI connection.

The cables ran somewhere in the $50 dollar range so If I dont have to waste them I wont.

Also, since my TV is 1080i and not 1080p I dont know if spending a crap load of money on the HDMI to DVI would be worth it at all. Expecially if I end up buying a fairly cheap HDMI to DVI connection and not go with kick ass quality cales from monster, which would cost over $100 for a 8' cable (which Id need).

Oh yeah. This would also help me since I wont have to buy an HDMI cable thats not included with the PS3 (dumbest thing ever)

The dumbest thing 'EVER' may actually being suckered into buying Monster Cable in the first place and thinking you are getting something special out of it.

www.monoprice.com - Pick up a $10.00 HDMI->DVI cable - and see what real quality is all about. It isn't how much you pay, it is hitting that line for cabling which gives you all the performance you can actually acheive with your eyes.

Spend LESS time reading the manufacturers website, and start reading on almost all forums online about cabling, how performance is truly affected, and how much difference it really makes when you spend two to ten times as much on a cable.

A good test for you would be to get the $10.00 cable from Monoprice, then the $100+ cable from Best Buy - and then try them both. When you see, with your own eyes, that there is ZERO difference... return the expensive cable and spread the word.

yeah. I was suckered into that.
At the time, Sony didnt offer component cables for the ps2. I had to buy something that would fit their AV output, and monster was the only one who made it.

Ill see what I can do. $10 cables sound like a great idea.

My biggest problem is running out of reciever room. Now my cable box uses optical for sound instead of the digital cable they used to run.

Then I run into a problem of whether or not there will be a slight delay in audio if the ps3 video goes straight to the TV, and the audio goes straight to the reciever. my reciever only inputs/outputs analog (no dvd, hdmi).

There should not be any audio delay at all. Real world timing is less than 1/60 of a second for audio processing. Oh, and it looks like 10 bucks is wrong... About 16 bucks is more accurate, unless you get their 'cheap' one which is about 6 bucks. Everyone falls prey to Monster Cable at least once in their life and Monster DOES make very good cables (unlike Bose & speakers) so you don't get lousy quality, you just pay more than you need to for good quality.

High end cables have better sheilding and higher gauges wires. However i highly doubt anyone would notice the diffrence unless hey thave voltage and noise metters built into their eyes.

But even if you could tell the diffrence, $100 dolars is way too much for a cable. Monster and other highend brands are ripping off noobs and the ingnorant masses. I bought a highly sheilded, gold plated DVI cable for $40. Shipping to Hawaii is expensive, so even if i did by an el-cheapo DVi cable from Monolith for 10 bucks, it still would cost 25 dollars to ship it. I simply will not get somthing that costs more to ship than to buy.

I also bought component cables from a local department store for $8. They are thick and highly shielded, and nickle plated.

DVI for PC, componet for DVD player.
