Come on, man, you're seriously making me consider not waiting for the Grindhouse edition and grabbing this one. Stop praising it!

I know, right? I really went back and forth with myself over whether to grab the 88 Films Cannibal Holocaust release or not. I'm a huge stickler for uncut, unmolested, complete versions of films, and yet, still no regrets at grabbing it. I'm sure that one small cut is probably hurting 88's sales on that great title and great disc, which is very unfortunate. But I just had to see it for myself, especially in light of how much coin I'm about to throw 88's way on the multiple additional 4k releases that are in their pipeline right now. Frankly, seeing 88's 4k work product was a big relief that was worth the price of admission right now, considering how many of my favorite Italian horror titles they have their 4k license paws on, all of which are going to be slightly pricey imports.

Censorship pisses me off to no end. It's especially aggravating when I have to buy an import blu ray disc of a rare modern horror not available on blu in the US, if I want it in HD. I grab it from, say Germany or England, and it shows up with scenes cut. It blows. In this case, astonishingly, out of the 6 animal kills in CH, only 15 seconds of one kill are cut on the 4k. Everything else is intact. While it still irritates me knowing it's got the one small cut, the way it was done, the removed scene doesn't really alter the atmosphere or impact of the film much at all. Not knowing WHEN Grindhouse might drop their release, however, and wanting eyes on 88's new 4k product efforts asap, I made a rare exception in this one case, and I'm glad I did. Of course, I'll still grab Grindhouse's 4k release too, so long as it proves out. Keep in mind, it's also THEIR first foray into 4k uhd, and thus equally an unknown in the PQ department. Now the wait is painless, and if Grindhouse botches their master, I can totally live with this excellent release.

I plan on picking up most of these splatter epics in 4K no matter who releases them. 88 seems to be the current front runner, which surprises me since they're up to their eyeballs in karate flicks but I'm glad someone is doing these. Severin feels like the only US label who might tackle some of these movies but I think we'll have to wait until their love affair with Jess Franco cools down a bit lol. So much Italian goodness to upgrade!

Same. I'm drooling at the possibilities. Even though 88 will likely be limited in what they can release uncut, I'm still going to be 100% supportive on what they can get licensed and released on 4k. Cannibal Holocaust, a controversial title, was a bold, huge step and an amazing 4k project - a ballsy move on 88's part for such an early title in their 4k catalog, and for the fact that it had to be cut, at no fault of their own. I do think Severin and maybe Ronin might be our best chance for other cannibal genre goodies on this side of the pond.

Burial Ground should be uncut.

Yeah, 88's obsession with karate flicks turned me away from them for the most part these past few years. I love Asian cinema but karate flicks aren't really my bag and they've gone overkill with them. It's good to see they're back to horror and remembering Italian goodness!

The success of these “karate flicks” probably helped fund production of some of these horror 4Ks, so we should be thankful 88 Films released so many of them.

Ok, MARTIAL ARTS films.... But, I mean, they did release TONS of horror films before this recent craze of martial arts films so funding them hasn't been an issue.

Yes, I meant in terms of possible future releases of other Italian cannibal jungle adventure flicks by UK boutiques, where things like the animal killings footage will trigger possible automatic cuts, as happened with Cannibal Holocaust.

Anyone other than me champing at the bit yet for this much-anticipated Italian zombie-gore horror/jungle adventure to hit the pipeline? Not much chatter out there, I'm hearing crickets. The calendar is finally ticking down (assuming the street date stays February 27) and my longstanding Grindhouse preorder for 88's Hell of the Living Dead 4k and House on the Edge of the Park 4k is getting pretty ripe...I'd love to see these hit a little early.

According to the BU BD at least, it says it was made in Stereo in the opening credits.

Update:

Says this on dvdcompare.net: "The trailers and title card erroneously sport a "Dolby Stereo" logo but the film was mixed in mono with Dolby noise reduction."

Is House confirmed to be uncut? I'm assuming Hell will be.

There are tons and tons of cuts in House on the Edge. It's all that flirtatious foreplay with a razor knife.... Oh, wait....

I seem to recall folks swearing up and down to the point of becoming violent about it, that House 4k will be presented unaltered. I've seen no reports on whether Hell 4k will be cut or not, but I've already thrown down nonrefundable preorders for both tiles after watching my Cannibal Holocaust 4k (which did have one small cut that really didn't hurt the film all that much), and now I'm in for the ride, on both of these releases. My wallet will be answering all of my questions on these releases, as usual.

House is confirmed uncut on the 88 films store page:

House on the Edge of the Park is a classic video nasty era slice of Italian exploitation cinema, presented here in stunning 4K UHD, fully uncut for the first time ever.

I'm also highly anticipating this one. I was going to hold out for the eventual US edition, possibly from Severin, but after being severely impressed by Cannibal Holocaust on 4K I decided not to wait. Preordered this and House On the Edge from Diabolik. I may go with Orbit DVD for these going forward. I just signed up with them and ordered King Kong Lives, which was fairly hard to find on most US e-tailers, and it's already out for delivery. These guys don't waste time.

OrbitDVD is insanely fast and customer-oriented. I ordered the Henry UK Arrow limited 4k box set from them last year, which was really tough to get for a while with the corrected 4k disc included, and it got crushed in shipping by the post office. Orbit emailed back n forth with me on a Sunday of all days, and immediately got a replacement out to me which arrived in just a few days along with a return label for the damaged set. The replacement arrived dead mint. I've ordered a few times since, almost always import discs, and their shipping/order fulfilment is about the fastest in the business, along with the fact that they occasionally have really tough-to-get titles that everyone else is sold out of or never had, and their prices are sometimes the best, as well. A very solid media merchant, indeed.

Does Hell of the Living Dead contain real animal violence?

I only ask cause people keep bringing up Cannibal Holocaust when mentioning it

I kind of blind pre-ordered it. I'm not a fan of the cannibal holocaust type films. (just not for me)

Not any version of Hell of the Living Dead/Zombie Creeping Flesh I've seen has any animal cruelty in it, as far as I know.

Some rats get zapped with radiation but I don't think anyone's going to cry for them Argentina
