Blu-ray Baron

The Blu-ray comes with a flyer promoting Take Action Against Human Trafficking, with URLs for the organisations Cast, Apne Aap and OSCE ODIHR and hotlines for US/India.
Introduction (Fisk Johnson, Chairman/CEO SC Johnson) - 1:41 [provides some context on human trafficking, English] Behind the Scenes - 24:28 [looks like a well edited piece with interviews with cast and crew in US and India, behind the scenes footage, illustrations, photos, film clips, English and Hindi sections with English subtitles - some clips from this can be found on YouTube, but not the entire video] Deleted Scenes - 4:49 [interestingly is open matte compared to the 2.35:1 aspect ratio of the feature, Hindi with English subtitles] International Trailer - 2:40 [this is the UK trailer from Modern Films, who planned a UK Blu-ray but it didn’t end up happening. I don’t know how large the UK cinema release was, but apparently some Vue and Cineworlds played it. It does feel rare when Indian cinema go to arthouse or local distributors like Curzon or Sky Cinema as with The Lunchbox and Hotel Mumbai or some of the Reliance DVDs being distributed by Optimum like 3 Idiots and Kites] The disc has Hindi 5.1 Dolby True HD and 2.0 Stereo soundtracks (mislabeled as English on the disc menu but says Hindi on the back cover), and multilingual subtitles in English (CC), Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, French, Georgian, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish and Russian - so must be aimed at an international audience to not include other Indian languages on there. The studio logos at the beginning of the film are Tamasha Talkies/SC Johnson/Modern Films - don’t know if this was also the case theatrically. The chapters are at 10 minute intervals, seemingly arbitrarily even in the middle of scenes, there are 13 chapters in all and the film runs 2:02:35 (the last chapter is midway through the credits!) I assume the disc is region free, as it plays fine on my region free player, you can definitely tell it’s a BD-R from the black colour on the disc, and the label doesn’t quite meet the edges perfectly. |
