"Some of the people over at HDF (highdefforum) are planning an HD DVD buy-day to show their support for the format and most notably, the P/DW decision.

It is scheduled for October 16th, the same day that Transformers gets released on HD DVD.

Any participation will be appreciated.

The goal must be to have HD DVD win the Videoscan sales breakdown one week this year. So far that hasn't happened but putting off all purchases by the HD DVD group for a few weeks, then buying all new releases and the recent weeks releases, it would happen. Of course it won't change YTD or ITD, but claiming one week would be something for them to shout about.

You need to understand that the online groups of enthusiasts are material to the total market and has great impact. Neither format has amounted to much outside of a group of online supporters worldwide. I am still waiting for the first person I know in real life to buy either format.

Chris

Haha....so....While I claim to not care at all about HD DVD, I felt drawn to search around their forum. I happened to find a lot of people that had blu-ray players. While some said they would abandon it, some also had just purchased more BDs, to have an equal collection on each format. They also talked a ton about Blu, which....we also talk a bit about them as well. It was just interesting to see the other side of the story. I like reading, "they could never do that on Blu-ray". Apparently they dont realize that they are the ones limited by space constraints....Blu-ray can do whatever they want....and still have better audio and at times better video(would always be better video if it werent for WB)

I doubt they will get what they want with a ridiculous gadget like that. its a gun from star trek. might as well fox goes ahead and supplies a gun with live free or die hard. its the same thing. what i am trying to say, this is STUPID, and DEFINITELY THIS IS A WAY TO IMPUGNE SOMEONE'S INTELLIGENCE BY ADVERTISING THIS GADGET AND MAKE THEM BUY THE SERIES JUST FOR IT. in other words, you have to be really, really, and really nuts to buy star trek for 200 bucks just to have something as ridiculous as that.

Their forum is almost identical to ours, yet why does it suck so much?

General discussion there has about 10 pages. Don't we have about 100? Maybe we should all join up and have blu-ray discussions there.

Go and read the General Discussion section, and click on the Paramount Dreamworks thread. A member posts up "who is excited about Transformers on HD-DVD exclusively?" and most of the replies are, "I wish it was on Blu"...."Paramount doesn't have any good titles" ...."Why doesn't Universal go Blu? Damnit Universal!!" LMAO!!!!

Having a buyout on the day of Transformers release IS RETARDED! Why would you have your buyout on a day that is already going to sell big because of Transformers? People are going to buy Transformers reguardless but now they will call it their "buyout purchase". Even if the HD DVD community was decent sized like ours it wouldn't make a difference.
