I just bought this the week of Christmas for $299.99 at Costco. Small footprint, Atmos and goes great with my new LG Oled tv.
I love the minimal area used by the bar and the sound is great. http://https://www.lg.com/us/sound-b...lair-sound-bar |

I have an Atmos capable Sony HT-G700 soundbar for our bedroom in India and it works surprisingly well. I have watched Blu-ray films with Atmos audio and the 'surround' effect is very good given that there are no rear speakers. But I do NOT think it will be as effective in a large room like a lounge.

Hi Jim,
LG SP9YA or a similar LG 9 series. Excellent for dialogue and everything else (can’t comment on Atoms because the room I have it set up has angled ceilings). I have 2 home theater setups each with separate Atmos speakers and the LG soundbar blows the center channel for one of my setups out of the water. I bought SP8YA for a tv in another room and it was not even close to the 9 series. The difference was unbelievable. You can pick the 9 series open box with subwoofer from Best Buy for under $500. Was actually disappointed with one of my home theater setups (considering how much I spent to build it) after hooking up the LG in the living room. It comes with a wireless subwoofer and you can add wireless rear satellite speakers to it. I believe the 10 series allows for the sound of the rear satellites to be adjusted whereas the 9 series does not. I’d go with the 9 series due the 10 series being hard to find and rarely ever on sale. |

You can check Sonos Beam (Gen 2) as well. The price is approx. $400 on Amazon. The soundbar is made in a compact design that measures less than 25 inches. I would say it is the perfect soundbar for listening to music and watching movies.

The price point, ease-of-setup and related aesthetics/foot print is less than a 2.0 setup. With Sonos, product and sound quality, reliability, support and updates is top tier, plus the product is expandable (back/sides/sub) and the free smartphone app is all you need to manage settings and product. The sound quality is far superior than TV speakers, dialogue is clear as a center channel, Atmos provides a baseline facsimile, and the room correction works as promised. If I did not have a UHD player, the dynamics are different, i.e., an exclusive Apple set-up. Dual HomePod plus Apple AirPods Pro, which I use often and are fantastic for solo/late-night viewing. The APP noise-cancelation feature alone is a must-have for when you do not wish to hear anything but the film. But the Beam is what it is, a sound bar. Don't get me wrong, the sound quality is solid and representative of the mix, but my main set-up is my go to when I want to experience sound at maximum volume. |
