Just wanted to let those know out there that this title has 5.1 in DD at 375 kbps. So overall pretty poor for any Blu-ray release period. it isn't even at a full 448 kbps that the DVD audio format is capable of. I personally will not buy any Blu-ray release without lossless audio. The video is in MPEG-4 or AVC and the concert is good. I would actually recommend the older Eagle Rock release from 2016 if you can find it. I didn't realize till last week Journey had released a title under their label. Eagle Rock never seems to disappoint.
Sorry to hear that the Frontiers edition is poor. I found a scan of it online and it looks like it is a BD-25 with LPCM 2.0 audio and Dolby Digital 5.1 at 384 kbps:
This scan could be inaccurate since it's from a dubious site, so if your copy has different audio or video, please reply and let me know. I looked at the Amazon.com listing and many customer reviews are criticizing the picture quality, so perhaps the video was improperly encoded, too?
I would also e-mail Frontiers and complain. I have a couple of their other Blu-rays and as I recall, they have lossless 5.1 audio, so I'm not sure what happened to this one.
The good news is that there does appear to be a better Blu-ray of the concert from Ward Records in Japan. I have a few Ward Records releases and they do their own encodes, so I found the back cover from an eBay listing here. Japanese specs are correct 99% of the time, so this should have DTS-HD MA 5.1 and LPCM 2.0 tracks on a BD-50. Just be aware that Ward use tall DVD-size cases:
[Show spoiler]
There is also a version with CDs included. Ordinarily, you could purchase either from Amazon Japan here:
But right now it looks like Amazon Japan is blocking orders from the US and probably other countries outside Japan. This has been an ongoing issue and sometimes items become briefly available.
