Angels in the Outfield (1994) Non-Anamorphic - Blu-ray Forum

I'm watching Angels in the Outfield (1994), which is a non-anamorphic DVD release.

I used the zoom function on the player (a PS4) to have the movie fill the screen. I wondered how much the zoom feature was cutting off the image so I paused the video and did a comparison.

To my surprise the top and bottom are the same while there is actually MORE image visible left and right.

Is this normal? I wasn't expecting Zoom to improve the image...

Some of those earlier non-anamorphic dvds could possibly be using scans from the LD master.
