I noticed Yellow Viel are the one's releasing this. I wonder if they will be selling a slipcover version on the VS website in April, since they are a partner label?

How much do you wanna bet that they'll either ignore the 2019 remake or trash on it saying it's terrible when it's still the best in the franchise since Bride?

Lol

They'll ignore it since it's the other half of the original creative crew. Half went to the TV show, the rest to the remake. Plus Tony Gardner had nothing to do with the remake.

So Vinegar Syndrome just announced/released their April 2023 titles, including their Partner Label releases (obviously). I have been assuming for months, given the listed/provided release date of 04/04/2023, that this would be Yellow Veil's April 2023 title via Vinegar Syndrome. Alas, they released The Hourglass Sanatorium as their April title today. Wondering if that means this release has been delayed or if it's still coming out this month, it isn't part of their monthly Vinegar Syndrome releases, and I should just buy it from Amazon. Thoughts?

Hot take, none of the "Of Chucky" movies or that tv show debacle are as good as the first 3 films or the remake. Basically only the legit Child's Play movies are worth a damn.

It's kind of fascinating to see the long shelf life of some of the 80s horror movies. I remember when Friday the 13th even had Fear Street style books like Jason at the local carnival.

I don't think they're doing a VS exclusive for this. The wide release has a slipcover. There's not really anything else to add.

I found out recently that this doc was filmed before they made the TV series, so don't expect that to be mentioned.

Thanks for responding! I think I just always assumed that VS Partner Labels just only had releases via VS and not separate/apart, so I had been mistakenly assuming for a few months now that this release was just going to be Yellow Veil's April 2023 release via VinSyn. Thanks again!

Bride was decent 75% of the time but definitely agree with you there.

I think the difference with this one is that it's being distributed by Cinedigm, not VS.

For me, Chucky is all about him being a lil bad ass killer going after Andy with quips and a short temper. Not marriage, plastic sex, jerking off in a turkey baster, having a messed up kid, having multiple Chuckys, and a teen melodrama involving an identity crisis all in a comedic self parody package. They even kept changing the rules on the whole voodoo bit. I'm all set with that.

I'll give Curse some props for at least bringing it back to basics, but it's too ingrained with the other post Child's Play movies.

I’m watching this on hoopla. It’s a rough start, long opening credits and the vhs segues are repetitive. But it’s an ok doc actually. It’s just too bad they spend about one minute each for parts 2 and 3.

Would you say it's worth it?

I think it's worth watching sure. Worth buying? Maybe for the ultimate, ultimate Chucky fan. Meaning like trading cards, socks, and this documentary.

Bride is easily better than CP3. IMO.

Yeah it's fun on its own terms, but it brought all that goofy baggage that started Chucky's derailment going forward.
