saw this show on re-runs on TV as a kid occasionally.
has been watching it on Paramount+ here and there. Its a very interesting show. very well executed and written. This show feels like miami vice before MIAMI VICE (1984 - 1990) Any fans of original H5O here? |

Been reading elsewhere about late 50s-early 60s private eye shows that can’t be released due to astronomical music clearance rights for pieces used in certain scenes in the shows. Since streaming or video home releases weren’t contemplated in that era, the music rights weren’t addressed. Wondering if some of that issue might impact this show, which I really enjoyed in the early seasons. Replacing music or editing scenes out is costly also. But the weekly scenarios were well conceived and performed, and the scenery always a treat of course.

I'd buy it on Blu, no questions asked. I loved the reboot, until the last few seasons, and I love Magnum PI, so it's a no-brainer buy for me. If it had a fresh telecine transfer and remastering, I'd certainly pay a bit extra for it, but I know we'd be served the old HD masters from the early 2000's if we did get it on Blu.

yes he was.....dug some more into it.
Jack had serious chemistry with connery as felix lieter in DR. NO. should've continued with 007 films as long as connery was there....really a shame. He wanted longer Felix lieter role and turned them down. also, the last H50 Season 1980, sources claiming he showed the earliest signs of Alzheimers as he eventually succumb to it in 1998. this is sad and scary. RIP. whenever on screen in H50, he is arresting. you said it the best. "force of nature'. |

I would put it second after Mission: Impossible.
But that is a matter of taste I suppose. I will say one of the few things the remake of H5O got right was re-recording the theme with some of the same musicians and using some of the same imagery. |

The opening credits were directed by Iranian film director Reza Badiyi who was also one of the best directors on Mission Impossible too.

I love this show, I have all 12 seasons on DVD, but I'd happily upgrade to bluray if it's ever released.
The show did dip in quality in the last 3 seasons, but even in those seasons there are a number of good episodes. Although I must admit that the finale is not one of them. |
