Down to $6.96 on Bluray, did a blind buy on this, as I love everything Rankin/Bass.

I have a question concerning thru BD edition - does it contain the interview with Phyllis Dialer that was included in the booklet on the Anchor Bay DVD?

I'd pick this up, but based on comments by moviebuff75, Gone2HiDef, and Surfink63 on the previous page, it sounds like the DVD is actually better, which I already own.

No.

Incidentally, I don't have a problem with the Blu transfer, I think it looks fine to me.

$7.50 at Walmart right now if you're looking for a B&M source.

The Blu-Ray comes with a DVD. No idea if it's the same DVD as the previous DVD edition though. But if it is, that would satisfy whoever prefers the DVD.

I've never seen the movie on any format, so I have no opinion to give.

Finally watched this, enjoyed it, couple parts dragged on, but pretty good overall. The opening song reminded me of a James Bond opening. Also the first shot of the guy in the pharmacy abusing the meds lol.

Amazon is sending me a new copy a year later, as I've had issues with this freezing the last couple times I tried to watch it. Both in the same part, around the 1 hour mark.

Is this OOP? I'm seeing some copies for around $50-90 USD from some Amazon sellers, which makes me think this may become another Ticks/Ace Ventura where once word about going OOP spreads, all the suckers go frantic and swallow up copies at exorbitant prices.

Watching this on TCM right now and the colors pop a lot more than the Blu. Is it possible a new scan was done?

Is the DVD included in this combo pack the best quality of this available, or is there an older DVD only release that's the best?

Interesting, I had run across mention of this film before when researching all the stop motion films out there, but I hadn’t had a chance to search for the dvd. Nice to know it’s being released on blu, and no doubt restored

Thanks for this! I can't figure out of this is region-coded or not though?

I have some other movies from Umbrella I can check when I get home to see what region they are.

Note unfortunately Australian packaging by law much carry the movie rating.

When talk of this movie floated about with the last blueray release I had heard the original elements were lost to a fire. Sounds like they may have found a good print.

Is it really a new restoration? The description is worded in a way that makes me think they are just regrading the existing master:
Quote:
2023 colour-corrected master in correct aspect ratio of 1.85:1 and also alternate full frame 1.33:1.
Quote:
presented in an all-new colour-corrected master from the original 35mm vault materials
Quote:
full feature with new colour-corrected master
