Heck, we know the drill by now. We’re even good sports about it. When I see a 4K remastered blu coming, I feel relieved, knowing that a 4K uhd isn’t far behind.

Hear that, Synapse? Now where’s that tasty 4k uhd of Living Dead at Manchester Morgue? C’mon and play ball. She’s overdue! Don’t let these big sloppy studios show you guys up in the 4k game…..

I should've seen this coming after Fatal Attraction, the 48 Hours duology, and Flashdance all got UHD upgrades...

Honestly, I'm now SO glad that these Paramount Presents editions were US-only for the most part. We didn't get them at all over here (and had to import them) and only a handful got standard BD releases over here.

Anyway, I'm glad that I couldn't be bothered to pick them up since now they're slowly being announced for 4K.

I think the only one I picked up was Mommie Dearest (imported the PP release) and they put out a standard edition of A Place in the Sun over here, so I got those two.

I just really want a corrected UHD of To Catch a Thief, which I think IS possible. Paramount revisited 48 Hrs. for 4K and even with its problematic encoding, the UHD has a hell of a lot more detail compared to the PP disc, which was overly soft.

Nice! Day one purchase for me, too! One of my favorites for both Tom Cruise and Cameron Crowe.

I'd much prefer getting a good Blu-ray of the Original Abre los Ojos

That would be a good release for those who want it. I like Abre los Ojos, but I felt the bigger budget for Vanilla Sky really helped develop the concepts the story presents in a grander fashion. Although, had Hollywood given the same amount of money to a director less capable than Crowe, then we probably would have gotten a much blander remake.

Vanilla Sky is the only instance that comes to mind where I prefer the American remake to the non-American original. [REC] and Quarantine are tied in my estimation, and every other American remake I've seen is definitively weaker for my taste.

After patiently holding out on that Paramount blu-ray with hopes that they'll release a 4K disc in the future...and to find out it's HAPPENING!

I wonder if that extended cut with the terrible color timing will be included.

That's why I haven't bought the Paramount Presents copy of Ghost yet because a 4K is going to happen at some point.

Cadet: "We're ready to start manufacturing the 4K of this sir."
Boss: "Have we sold off the remastered BDs?"
Cadet: "Not a lot sir--many people are holding off for the 4K."
Boss: "Then we cannot produce the 4K."
Cadet: "But sir, research shows there are a lot of people wanting the 4K remaster on a 4K UHD release and are willing to pay for it. Not producing it leaves that money on the table."
Boss: "Tough. More of them should have all bout the BD first."

Does that really make sense to you?

It's kinda counter-intuitive. On a recent podcast FAH speculated the that 1080p Blu-ray might eventually go away and the primary physical media formats will be DVD and 4K UHD. I don't know...I'm really bad at predicting future trends. I thought Netflix was a terrible idea when it first came out. I thought "half the fun of renting a movie is browsing the video store"

On a happy note - it sounds like Disney is re-thinking their streaming strategy and may re-invest in the physical media space!
