July physical release date sucks. I planned to see this in the theater, but I think they released too many 'strong' movies (movies that were sequels to well received movies, even if the sequels were not, or non-sequels that were received well or performed well) week to week in a row that killed what some of them could have done if they were more spaced out. Creed III, then Scream VI, then Shazam! Fury of the Gods, then John Wick: Chapter 4, then D&D, then The Super Mario Bros. The first 3 are already completely gone from my area and on streaming/digital. I was already looking to rent Scream VI at Redbox. I ended up buying a Redbox Blu-ray of Scream V because I wanted to watch it again before VI, and there just have not been many sales on V to justify my purchase yet.
I'm definitely not to the point where I would rent a new movie for $20, and I am not part of any major streaming services. Things are changing with my TV service where they will go fully streaming at the end of 2023, so who knows what I will be like in 2024. |

I actually found this out and did a free trial yesterday to watch it. Not the best in the franchise, but not the worst. Frankly, I don't know why they put it on P+ before the disc. Now I won't buy the 4K disc till its $10 or so on BF, just like the last one was.

Because they are hoping that more people will subscribe to P+ if it's an exclusive on the platform.

I get that part 100%, but I'm saying is why not release it on P+ on the same date, or just after the disc comes out. The disc is getting released late and people seemed to be not happy that it was on P+ way before a disc. Frankly, they just lost a disc sale from me because of it. If they had waited till when the disc came out, or a week or so after, that may have changed. Not the best business practice IMO. But all the streaming services are suffering now and these types of things don't help the studios in the long run.

The streaming rental price finally dropped. I used a Redbox coupon, so it was $5 and change. I could've tried the P+ free preview or even subscription for a month for about the same cost, but I was tired of waiting and avoiding spoilers for the movie - granted, most people have moved on from talking about this movie for now. I put the Redbox app on my TV. I don't remember it asking what quality option I wanted, but it did look really great, so maybe it can tell it was a 4K TV? Not sure how that works. Now I can go back and watch the spoiler reviews I avoided.
