Default HD DVD threads getting kicked into "Off Topic Discussion"

a couple of my hd dvd threads have gotten the boot to "off topic discussion". and when i check there, i see that there are more hd dvd refugee posts that others have made. i want to know why. the latest post i made was a point blank simple question regarding warner hd-dvd reissues. when the topical guidelines for posting in the general discussion area list 'HD DVD' under it, HD DVD discussions should be allowed. if this will continue being the norm for all discussions about HD DVD, could you please clear the confusion and remove "HD DVD" from the General Discussions subforum topic guidelines....and instead put it under "OFF TOPIC". no big deal....consistency and clarity would be appreciated. thanks.

AVS forum people are as closed minded as i have seen. most likey they know you are right about things, and just wanted to give you the boot. hey, B. i hope you don't mind me calling you that. Don't waste your time with those idiots. sometimes ignorance is a bliss.

by all means, call me B. some of my friends do and i think you misunderstood because this is happening here.

edit: check the off topic discussion forum and you'll see that almost all of the off-topic discussions (that are non-viewable to the lurking public) are HD-DVD related. this doesn't make sense at all since it seems to be a betrayal of the forum's own posting guidelines (see my post above). if we truly value integrity and remain steadfast against the corruption of the AVS forums, why are we letting this happen here???

Don't cry over spilled milk. It's not that big of a deal. They belong there to begin with.

I think it would've been better if you PM'ed a mod instead of making a thread for it. It might be a misunderstanding in the mod's part - maybe he wasn't aware that HD-DVD is listed under General Discussion?

negative. first, this ain't cryin over spilled milk. its trying to figure out whether its milk or soy milk that i'm drinking. secondly, hd dvd is written there in plain text. its been there for centuries. and the mods live and rule here. its like assuming that i dont know where the dvd collection is in my own bedroom. point being that if hd dvd discussions belong in the 'off topic discussion' subsection of the forum, thats fine...but it should be listed as such and removed from the 'general discussion' description. and i do believe that this was an appropriate place to bring it up being that its 'feedback forum'. is it not? check 'off topic discussion' and you'll see that about half the posts there are hd dvd related. and those are posts the 'nonmember' public cannot read. so its not a personal issue by any means - its forum wide baby. it applies to other posts besides mine. and when it comes down to it...its not that big of a deal to me to begin with. hd dvd? so what? im not butt hurt over it. i'd just like to see some consistency. thats all.

I haven't moved anything myself (and I see you said it's resolved), but as one of several mods here I have to admit that I never read/noticed that the general discussion section did include hd dvd. Personally, I would keep all of the HD DVD discussion in off-topic because it *is* off topic as to what this site is actually about.

I 2nd that....

Most people here are not going to buy an hd-dvd player just because a non blu-ray title in talked about, or a question is asked about it.
I also would like to communicate without biased censhorship, or having to pre-research every title before asking a question, or what use even are these forums.

Just my 2 cents.

I wrote numerous posts over there (AVS) and no one would offer any links or convincing proof of their statements. I listed numerous benefits of blu-ray including links and all they did was attempt to attack my credibility, call me fanboy, a hater, and even insinuated that I was paranoid delusional.
They know that blu-ray is superior so they don't refute that and instead just bring up these mindless replication, and attach rate arguments. Also, I heard that nonsensical doesn't matter because so many more standard dvds are sold fluff. That's the same as saying it doesn't matter how many PS3s are being sold because there are so many more PS2s.
What really sickens me is that they know they're backing the loser and would rather lead more people into making the same mistake they did than to just admit they were wrong.

i honestly think this issue of BD AND HDDVD fanboys is gone to the next level. where in level one you are optimistic and open to suggestions. level two is where the situation turns ugly. it turns into an argument how dare you tell me that i am wrong. and back forth. this is the case AVS lovers outthere.

Exactly what I was thinking, a lot of people might miss the description under General Discussions. Afterall, this is blu-ray.com.

It's because when anything HD-DVD positive comes out, for instance the Paramount deal or the latest TL51 fud, we are INVADED by HD-DVD trolls who creates various HD-DVD threads all over. If you were a HD-DVD fan, what would be the best and easiest way to spread fud? I would go to the blu-ray.com forum and post HD-DVD stuff all over.
