Is this available in the UK at all and if so, which edition is it?
Thanks in advance.

Unlike the first one, the TV cut of Supes II hasn't had a Blu-ray release. Just the theatrical and Donner cuts are available.

The reason I asked was because I've just been watching the added scenes in the tv cut on Youtube. Some great stuff with Gene Hackman and Valerie Perrine and the extended ending at the fortress of solitude wraps things up more satisfyingly.

Well whilst we have the thread, we might as qell discuss our favourite cut of II.

I'll be watching the 40th anniversary of Supes 1 at the Odeon next week, no doubt I'll watch 2 on Blu again afterward.

Supposedly, they can't find proper elements for the TV cuts of Supes II and III. The only elements they have are a pan and scanned 16mm TV print for II and SD beta tape masters of both.

Old Yahoo message board about the Reeve Supermans and someone who worked on the Superman Extended TV cut for Warner at the time said the elements for II and III were could not be properly presented in HD and OAR for the reasons I had mentioned.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I would still buy it in either 1.33 from a 16mm print or tape, or hybrid scope/1.33 from multiple sources. If Metropolis taught me anything, it's take your wins where you can get them, even if the quality is poor.

Stupid thing is between the Theatrical Superman 2, Donner Cut and all the deleted scenes you have pretty big chunk of it visually in the OAR. Though the Donner Cut has alternate takes and the audio between all three sources is all over the place, there wouldnt be too much left you would need to use a lesser source for to complete the cut.

However, having said that, I believe all the correct takes used in the extended cut were all catalogued when they made the Donner Cut so all it really needs is for someone at WB & WArchive to just resemble it using the fans RIC as a guide for the correct takes.

Some of the alt footage in the TV version of II were different (in terms of VFX) or ran much longer than the "raw" takes Warner has. Ditto for Audio mixing as well.

The alt elements for III were never properly cataloged or archived at Warner. Much of it was controlled by the Salkinds and held at the same London facility as the earlier Supes. However, much of the materials for III were discovered to have gone missing and only some were partially recovered when they remastered it in 2010.
