Default Charlie Brown Is Coming To Blu-ray

Warner Home Video has announced a Blu-ray release of A Charlie Brown Christmas for the 6th October. The disc will retail at around $29.99. The extra material has yet to be revealed I'm afraid, although we expect the disc to include A Christmas Miracle: The Making of a Charlie Brown Christmas featurette, and the bonus special "It's Christmastime Again, Charlie Brown".

I just don't know what to say, especially since this is another example of animation style restricting just how much HD can do... Maybe I'll get it, I'll wait for reviews.

I think it would be cool to see something like this that isn't INTERLACED... I am kinda hoping that these titles like How the Grinch and Charlie Brown are not interlaced like all the DVDs are. It is really annoying.

That is my main reason I'd love to see Watership Down released on BD.

If they release these interlaced as bad as the economy is that person who made the choice needs let go.

This box set will contain six Peanuts specials, three of which are not currently available on DVD, and two of which have never been released on DVD in the US before. The specials included will be:

A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, and You're In Love, Charlie Brown are available on other Warner Home Video DVDs; Charlie Brown's All-Stars was released on a Paramount DVD, which is now out of print; and He's Your Dog, Charlie Brown and It Was a Short Summer, Charlie Brown have never been released on DVD before in the United States.

The box set will also include a documentary about jazz musician Vince Guaraldi, who composed the music for the first 14 Peanuts TV specials (including all the ones in this set). I bet a BD can Hold Every Show of Charlie Brown and still have space for Extra's.

were these recorded on film? and will it be "Anamorphic 16x9"? or will it be like the "Star Trek TOS" 4:3 P&S

The price is too high, and besides, would this look really all that better in hidef? The drawings for the characters and backgrounds are very simple.

To each their own, but, at least for me, upgrading to blu for animation isn't about seeing more detail. Simple art or complex art, the blu should offer better color and a much sharper image. Of course, better audio as well and this soundtrack is one of my absolute favorites.

I definitely agree with everyone on the price being too high on this though. I'm sure it will still sell moderately well, but I'd think it would be flying off shelves with the inclusion of at least a couple other shorts (Great Pumpkin especially)
