This past weekend I had the pleasure of stopping by and supporting Calgary's newest one stop shop for all things boutique blu ray. Owner/Operator Pascal has worked tirelessly to provide a much needed service for film fans and collectors alike. A premium shop comparable to Bay Street Video/Grindhouse Video/The Archive.

Open to the public this past weekend, you can tell this is going to blossom into the go to hub for physical media collectors in Alberta. The shelves are already well stocked with all the essential labels. Vinyl records and film posters will also be available as the shop fills out.

I left the store on Saturday with 2 great discs per Pascal's enthusiastic recommendation and spent over an hour chatting film with him. Top notch customer service and an all around excellent first time experience in the shop.

I've only purchased in person from the shop, but speaking with the owner about shipping online, he mentioned using boxes and bubble wrap so I'm sure packages should arrive in great shape.

I popped into the store about 9 days ago. Had a nice chat. Looked through the inventory, walked out $137 later haha. Liked seeing the UK imports on the shelves, as well as all the Warner Archive titles.

I just checked it out and was pleasantly surprised by their selection. I found Cabinet of Dr Caligari from Eureka on 4K for $45 so I picked up that, Lovers Lane , Death Becomes Her and Rebel without a Cause. Great little store, I will be visiting again and again.

Spent another $120 after tax there yesterday . There's a very small used section and prices weren't marked. Just ask and he can price then & there. I got the following:

-Cutter's Way Blu (Imprint w/ slipbox, used) $18.00 minus 10% discount from receipt
-Dawn of the Dead 4K (Shout! w/ slipcover) $42.99 minus 10%
-Death Wish 4K (Kino w/ slip) $36.99 minus 10%
-The Man Who Knew Too Much Blu (Criterion, used) $18.00 minus 10%
-Viy Blu (Eureka, with slip, used) $12.00 minus 10%

I asked if he was going to take in used stock and he claimed he was open to, but will be naturally quite selective given the stock he tends to carry. He has some Waxwork vinyl there now too.

Those seem like decent used prices for boutique stuff. Would be awesome if the used stuff could be put on the online site but I get that that would probably be a hassle on there end and is probably pretty unlikely.

I ended up making an order that included the Enter the Video Store: Empire of Screams preorder so the whole thing won't ship until the end of June. Nice to have another decent option besides Amazon and UV.

It's very nice to browse a store full of boutique titles. You can tell the guy is a collector too because he doesn't put price stickers on the slip covers they are on the plastic cases.

Stopped by today and grabbed The Last Hunter LE set from Treasured Films. Lots of new titles on the shelf with a slew of vinyl records, too. This place is such a gem.
