Warner Bros Meg 2 : The Trench (2023) [No 3D Blu-ray]

I was kind of surprised, but I knew it was coming. But I thought The Flash would come first, There's a rumor that it was shot in 3D(That's why it's not showing on the website), but so far it hasn't been confirmed in posters or trailers, maybe it will be confirmed in this next trailer.
I think this is happening because Warner was out of money even to release the movies in theaters, and also the CEO change and the drop in cases of COVID-19 helped the return of 3D at Warner.

This site also confirmed in 3D, It seems that this site is reliable. We have a new source of information to confirm upcoming 3d movies.
https://www.blitz-cinestar-bh.ba/reald-3d

The next conversions are:

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts(I think is by SDFX, But on their page there's nothing about this movie, at least I didn't see anything. So I put it here.)
The Flash
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Parte One
Haunted Mansion
Dune - Part Two
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom
Coyote vs. Acme (2024)

MAYBE, just MAYBE:

Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse
Kraven the Hunter

Warners haven't put out a 3D conversion for a while, not even theatrically, so I'd be surprised if this ends up getting one.

If it's a Chinese co-production again, it might have a chance. Fingers crossed.

I think it's because The Batman (2022) made less than the marvel movies in the same year with less hype, remembering that Warner canceled the 3D of this movie. If it had been released in 3D, it would have reached 900M WW, It even lost +50M to Warner.

What are you talking about ?? The Batnan was a huge succes even without 3D. It made $177M in profit for the studio

Everyone knows that it made a profit, I'm saying that if I had a 3D convention, it would have made +900M WW and consequently it would have been more profitable for Warner.

If DNEG has this listed on their site as an active project with a designated stereo/3D supervisor, then it's clear that Warner has already paid or contracted with DNEG to convert the film to 3D. If this is accurate, I don't know why they would let that go to waste and not release this movie in 3D. I think the question is where and in what format(s) will this be released in 3D? Maybe it will only be released theatrically in China. And Warner has not released a 3D Blu-ray since Dune over a year ago - so it remains to be seen whether they have completely abandoned the 3D disc market.

The first Meg had a wide release in 3D in the US. If the sequel has a 3D version, I doubt WB would restrict to China, that hasn't been their M.O.

It is interesting that they chose to do a 3D conversion for The Meg 2 but not for any recent DC movies. I wonder what the thought process was.

I haven't seen anything to indicate that The Flash was converted to or will be released in 3D. I guess there's still time, but it seems unlikely.

Warner Bros. (or more accurately, Warner Bros. Discovery) is a much different company than it was a year ago. With the imminent launch of their new "Max" streaming service, they have gone all-in on streaming and seem to be cutting costs in almost all other places, including 3D conversions, physical media, and unprofitable movies/TV series.

The first Meg with Jason Statham, surprisingly a solid 3D conversion with medium to strong 3D layering throughout. I was not expecting that. Definitely check out The Meg 3D if not seen yet in 3D and a fan of underwater shark themed movies. The movie was very good too IMO to my surprise too.

I hope this has Statham returning and gets the same 3D treatment as the first. And then WB releases Meg 2 on blu ray 3D. That would be great.

I thought The Meg 1 was a solid but not amazing conversion with medium 3D mostly.

My theory on why certain WB movies are getting 3D conversions is probably more to do with the contracts for them being signed before their disastrous new CEO took over and started looting the place from the inside out. I think BLMN here said Aquaman 2 and The Flash are confirmed for 3D versions and I feel like that's because the ink was already signed on that stuff and maybe delays just pushed them out.

Or maybe the CEO has stopped ransacking the place and we'll see WB 3D again consistently. Either way, I hope they keep up their practice of being one of the most 3D bluray friendly studious around.

It'll be interesting to see if we get 3D with James Gunn and that new guy, Zafran (spelling?). James Gunn confirmed he likes 3D with his "filming 2D for 3D compositions" in Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2, and hopefully 3 too.

But yes, it's nice if those films already had 3D signed up for before the new Discovery took over WB and already had it mostly completed.

I started to do a 3D conversion for The Batman. It's one of the rare instances where I didn't think it was worth the effort once I started my initial test screenings.

While both films you cited are definitely not "bright" films, The Batman really does crank up the whole dark thing to another level.

For me, the 3D added a lot to the experience of Part 1. So this could be also a win for Part 2 of the movie.
