USA Irreversible (2002) (Altered Innocence)

Irreversible Blu-ray Slipless version on Amazon B0C4FRH552. The slipless Amazon pre-order is live but for some reason it's not direct linking at the moment, so click on the on the right and you'll see it on a Amazon page list, or use this direct link: https://www.amazon.com/Irreversible-...=UTF8&qid=&sr=

Irreversible (2002) will finally be getting a Blu-ray release in the US, from Altered Innocence (via OCN Distribution).

Quote:
This special limited edition spot gloss and embossed slipcover is limited to 2,000 units and is only available on our website and at select indie retailers. Absolutely no major retailers will be stocking them.

Altered Innocence has been dedicated to releasing LGBTQ & Coming-of-Age films with an artistic edge since their inception in 2015. With a library of features and shorts from around the world, mixing genre with art-house and everything in between - Altered Innocence is committed to curating an esoteric library that is without peer in the current marketplace. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

One night. An unforgivable act. A tale told in reverse.

Acclaimed filmmaker Gaspar Noé’s unflinching exploration of human savagery and the uncompromising nature of time, Irreversible was met with a groundswell of acclaim and uproar upon its premiere at the opening night of Cannes in 2002. Stylish, sexually frank, and brutal, the film’s conceit of exploring the events of one terrible night on the streets of Paris in reverse chronological order was celebrated and derided in equal measure, helping to further cement Noé’s legacy as a cinematic enfant terrible.
Nearly 20 years later, Noé brought Irreversible back, presenting the “Straight Cut” to the Venice Film Festival. This reconfigured vision allowed audiences to see the events of the film unfold in the order in which they occur, providing new context for pivotal scenes of brutality and the subsequent quest for revenge. Now available are both cuts of the film, providing the viewer the opportunity to see Noé’s potent account of humanity at its worst from multiple angles, and the unshakable understanding that time, indeed, reveals all things.

Not for the faint of heart, easily offended, or anyone with photosensitivity, this is Noé's dark masterpiece.

directed by: Gaspar Noé
starring: Monica Bellucci, Vincent Cassel, Albert Dupontel, Jo Prestia, Philippe Nahon
2002 / 94 min / 2.40:1 / French DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0

I've actually never seen this, but I love the cast, so I ordered it. Was going to wait until the May sale, but said screw it and just got it today.

At the rate it’s going, the slipcover will most likely sell out by end of day.

I’ve got the Indicator LE so I don’t need to double dip but I’m definitely going to highly recommend people pick this up. It’s a great film and this looks fantastic for people that aren’t region free in the year two thousand and twenty three.

Yeah, this is a REALLY big title for a partner label with super limited quantities. Does Altered Innocence do standard editions like VS?

I know I'll be in the minority; but I actually prefer the straight cut I think.

Knowing
[Show spoiler]she's pregnant
ahead of time +
[Show spoiler]seeing Marcus's character progress from a loving partner to a raging out of control monster (instead of the inverse)
really changes your perception of him as a person/character.

I think the original "reverse" cut is way more unique and tells a story in a different, stylistic way...but the straight cut has a heavier emotional impact.

Looks like there’s nothing new compared to the LE indicator release but I’m still all like “I should order it”.

Sadly if it had the split slip box like Lux Aeterna and Vortex I think I would have by now.

I grabbed it, but I was hoping it'd be the first noe on UHD
maybe some other region will give it a go

VS & partner labels rarely put out movies that interest me. Very nice surprise with this announcement. Instant order for me

It was restored only in 2K and even then, it still looks really rough imho but that’s just the way it was shot. This is as good as it’s ever going to look.

Pretty good. They've sold over 800 in less than 4 hours. A little surprising considering the Indicator release has been available for over 2 years.

and the indicator release is a lot nicer, since it has the big outer box and even more extras then the one released by altered innocence

I think you guys are vastly overestimating how many US buyers have a region-free player. I don't think it's remotely surprising that the first region A BD of high-profile movie like Irreversible is flying off the shelves.

That is possible but I think that people who flock to Vinegar Syndrome's website the first few hours of a sale are likely collectors and not the average movie viewer. That would indicate to me they are more likely to be region free.

I'm one of those people and I've been collecting movies for about 20 years now. Still not region-free.

Yeah, I think there is a decent amount of hardcore movie collectors who have yet to go region free.

Same. If I went region feee I would just be spending more money to import. It keeps the buying down / selective no matter how bad I want some of the other releases

The problem with being region free is that I can barely afford to be region A, sad to say
