Default Worst third trilogy entry?

The infamous 3rd entry in a trilogy is so often a disappointment. It's pretty much an accepted cinematic superstition at this point that the third movie is bound to derail a franchise. Return of the King, Toy Story 3 and Raiders of the Lost Ark are rare exceptions to the rule. For every one of these successful third installments, there's many more that leave a sour taste in fans' mouth.

So, which one was the worst?

My vote goes to RoboCop 3. Everything about it is an unmitigated disaster. That movie by its very existence should be the measuring stick by which not to end a trilogy (or any installment in a franchise). It was so awful, Nancy Allen literally begged to have her character (Anne Lewis) killed off after reading the script, and I honestly don't blame her. Above all else, it commits the cardinal sin: dumbing-down RoboCop.

Halloween Ends gets my vote for "other". What a misfire of a film. Oof.

I voted for Terminator Rise Of The Machines. Mostly because of how great the first two are. The Rise Of Skywalker is actually a worse movie but it is still not as awful as The Last Jedi. I have never seen Robocop 3, The Mummy Rise Of The Dragon Emperor or Spider-Man 3 and it sounds like I dodged some bullets.

I like Blade Trinity but I see why some might not.

There's several on that list that I just plain don't like, but the worst has to be the third Mummy movie. It felt like too much time had passed, and Brendan Fraser had forgotten how to play Rick O'Connell. The villain was just too strange, not even that much of a threat...and the heroes' son was just plain forgettable.

Interestingly enough, the only part of that film I did like was Maria Bello's take on Evelyn. They gave her more to do than just solve cryptic Egyptian puzzles...but overall, I understand why Rachel Weisz didn't want to come back. The rest of the story was just awful.

I thought The Last Jedi was superior to Skywalker. Skywalker felt like a film written by A.I.

At least TLJ attempted something different and played to its own tune, Rise was just awful, a soulless, scrap heap of a movie with absolutely no redeeming features.

Lots of good choices. I think RoboCop 3 would be the worst for me.

Well, that's a load of horsecrap. I never heard anyone unironically state that. Probably because it's nonsense.

Anyway, chose Mummy out of that list.

Have to go with Robocop 3, but I probably would've voted Halloween Ends if it was in the poll.

I'll go with Superman III, as I was a big fan of the first two and actually expected it to be good.

T3 was following two classics but I was older and more cynical, thus expected it to suck without James Cameron running the show.

Rise of Skywalker is the worst film here, but I hated the first two films and had no expectations at all.
