Default Are you the only one who's BLU?

are you the only person you know who's has made the transition to blu ray/ hi def? all my family and friends are still watching analog tv's and sd dvd's. their reasons for not making the jump....

it's too expensive...waiting for prices to come down
they don't think the technology will survive just like hd dvd
not impressed by the pq...doesn't look any better than dvd
don't know enough about it

i give up trying to get them to go BLU.

Among my friends, a higher percentage of those in their 20s and 30s have gone blu. Having a PS3 made it easy for them to check it out. Many of my older friends are still groovin' on their 27" tube TVs and dvd players...

Yup, just me. Mom n Pop... forget it. Two brothers still using VHS and DVD as their movie playing formats. they just switched over from shadow puppet theater on the walls as their major form of entertainment, so i should feel fortunate.

This sucks as I can't buy them blus for birthday n Christmas. I'll look on ebay for the Star Wars hand puppet pack this Christmas.

Yep I'm the only one around who has made it to Blu. Then again I don't know that many people so I'm probably not representative.

I have two friends at work who have 50+" plasma/lcd's and both have 7.1 surround sound and both haven't switched to blu. I even told them I would let them borrow my blu-ray player to hook up to their system but they don't even want to try.

Close to the same happened here once... but I have BD laptops.
As simple as plugging in an HDMI cord to his HDTV and the rest is history.

Yeah, the people I know who have HDTV's and BD players don't buy Blu-rays. They might rent them once in a while but for the most part they never buy it.

A lot of my work friends are into Blu-ray, but none of my friends away from work. When they come over they're just amazed by the PQ/AQ, but I don't try to convince them to change. They will eventually.

Yep, same here, I am the only among my friends and family. Although a couple of them wanted to switch over, but money is a big factor for them.

Personally I know a few people who own PS3's, but still buy DVD's. ("It looks just as good up-converted," they say. Yet when they watch movies @ my house, they're blown away by how good it looks and sounds.)

Last fall I gave my dad all the available Bond and PotC movies on Blu-ray for his anniversary, hoping he'd pick up a Blu-ray player on his own, but no dice.

A lot of it probably has to do with the fact that most people don't put the same amount of their budget towards entertainment, especially in a weak economy.

We don't travel much, I love to cook so we eat at home mostly, and the kids and I have hobbies that aren't expensive (I keep bees, and that actually MAKES money). That frees up a surprising amount of cash for picking up 3-4 new Blu-rays, a PS3 or PSP game, and 1-2 new books each month.

That's exactly what I hear from people the most. Just let them believe what they wanted to believe.

Of all my family, friends and neighbors, there is only one (a neighbor) that has a Blu player. Yet, he never watches or has purchased a Blu. What is up with that???

I have yet to see PROOF anyone I know actually buys blu-rays, makes you wonder where all these new blu-ray sales are coming from.
