Post Your DVD/BD library by Studio

I finally tallied up my video library to see which Studio had the most movies I thought were worth spending my money on and how many DVD's I would would replace or have replaced with BD. I was actually pretty suprised to see that the BD Studios had such a good showing. It also helps me mentally prepare my wallet for the future.

Blu-ray Exclusive Studios
159 DVD's - Replaced 16 with BD - Will Replace 46 - Own 24 BD's
Neutral Studios
137* DVD's - Replaced 2 with BD - Will Replace 35 - Own 5 BD's
HD DVD Exclusive Studios
39 DVD's - Replaced 0 with BD - Will Replace 12
*Paramount and Dreamworks included since all but 2 titles that I will replace are already out on BD

Studio Breakdown
Sony - 50 DVD's - 10 Replaced - 12 Will Replace - Own 15 BD's
Disney - 37 DVD's - 4 Replaced - 11 Will Replace - Own 7 BD's
Fox - 41 DVD's - 1 Replaced - 19 Will Replace - Own 1 BD
MGM - 21 DVD's - 0 Replaced - 4 Will Replace - Own 0 BD's
Artisan - 10 DVD's - 1 Replaced - 0 Will Replace - Own 1 BD
Warner - 49 DVD's - 1 Replaced - 13 Will Replace - Own 3 BD's
New Line - 32 DVD's - 0 Replaced - 9 Will Replace - Own 0 BD's
Paramount - 29 DVD's - 1 Replaced - 4 Will Replace - Own 2 BD's
Dreamworks - 12 DVD's - 0 Replaced - 2 Will Replace - Own 0 BD's
Speilberg- 14 DVD's - 0 Replaced - 11 Will Replace - Own 0 BD's
Universal - 39 DVD's - 0 Replaced - 10 Will Replace - Own 0 BD's

Total Replaced - 18
Total Coming to BD to Replace - 81
Total HD DVD Exclusive to Replace - 12

So there are only 12 movies in the HD DVD catalog that I actually want to replace in HD and that is with Paramount and Dreamworks included. There are 81 movies in the BD catalog I want to replace in HD. Looks like I'm not purchasing an HD DVD player....ever.

So what are your numbers?

LynxFX so your HD DVD studio DVD's amount to 12%, and 11% of your replaced/would replace in High Definition list.

I should tally up mine but it's all scattered over the place, (and the Laserdiscs are actually on another location )

This is funny.... right after the Paramount change, I sorted my small rack of DVDs with one side that supports BLU and the other doesn't.... Good thing was that 65 percent of them support BLU as Im a HUGE Disney fan !

Although this is good information to know, I am not replacing DVD's with these new formats and not likely going to go to the trouble of calculating the breakdown. I do know Sony is number 1 and Warner number 2 in my collection of DVD's and I have more exclusive Blu-ray studio titles than neutral or exclusive HD DVD studio titles. Counting Paramount as neutral, I am likely at about 50% exclusive Blu-ray and 35% neutral.

It is interesting seeing which Studios each person has the most of. I was really surprised that I had more Sony titles than anyone else. I never really considered them my favorite Studio. Then for other people Sony is one of the lowest.

Fox is the killer for me. They have so many of the 'big' movies I consider worth replacing. A great deal of them are coming before Christmas too, and Fox is stuck in that 'we are going to price our disks more than anyone else' phase. To wait, or not to wait, my wallet wants to know.
