Excellent film. Glad we are finally getting a Sadao Nakajima film in the US. Long overdue.

I was literally just thinking about this film today, and wondering if there was a chance it may get released on blu. I came to the conclusion that it would seem unlikely, so glad to be proven wrong and quickly.

Japanese language, English subtitles, 1080p high definition, Region A disc. A modern-day (Japan, 1974) take on Bonnie and Clyde, as a car accident between two stolen vehicles throws together Hijiriko, on the run from boredom and sleaze of her job, and Jiro, who barely escaped with his life after stealing millions of yen from murderous goons. One more stolen car later, the two are on the road, traveling across Japan with a certain destination in mind, committing further crimes as they go. But the police are quick to take notice, while the betrayed gangsters are hot on the young couple’s heels, bloodthirsty for payback... Released for the first time ever on Blu-ray! In 1080p high definition, with the original Japanese language, and English subtitles!

Just finished watching Jean's Blues: No Future, and what a film. I watched it maybe 10 years ago when I was trying to watch everything Sadao Nakajima and I think I was overloaded with films at that point, because today it really stood out more. Meiko Kaji is truly breathtaking and remarkable in this film of a "modern" day Bonnie and Clyde in Japan.

The film is emotional, yet brutal, and I really wish Sadao Nakajima had gotten more representation in the west. With Okinawa Yakuza War coming out in two months, I guess better late than never.

This was a important pick for Discotek and they nailed the technical aspects of the release. A fine job for a breathtaking film that leaves you with a gut punch of a final minute. I know I've been suggesting people check out a lot of Japanese cinema recently, but this is one of the better ones for sure.

I didn't like this one as much as DukeTogo84. There were some decent moments but most of the characters were bumbling idiots. The film isn't boring but there are a lot of ridiculous scenes.
[Show spoiler]One features Jiro losing a finger in a car accident. Some time later Hijiriko decides to suck on the stump and spit out the blood as though she is removing poison.
The film is played seriously but the number of inane sequences put me off. The disc is inexpensive and has a decent picture and subtitles but it's also nearly bare bones.

Just watched this and... wowza! What a great movie. Funny, exciting at times, relaxing at others, and gutwrenching in the end. Really pleased with this pick-up.
