Artificial Intelligence seems to have become the biggest gimmick in movies right now.
From what I've read, AI plays an important role in the new Mission: Impossible movie. And The Creator makes it clear in its trailers how much of its story revolves around AI. What movies do you think have done the best job having AI as a part of the plot? I suppose we could call 2001: A Space Odyssey the grandaddy of the AI genre. And more recently it has been used by Steven Spielberg, James Cameron, and also played a major role in one of the Avengers movies. |

Ex Machina and Her are probably the two standouts in recent memory.

Not to take this too off topic, but the scaremongering in media, including TV and Movies, of robots and AI I just find ridiculous sometimes. I have built a lifelong career around computer science and engineering and i'm heavily involved with AGP's and prompt engineering. It's a tool like anything else, and the ones to watch are the humans that use it rather than the algorithm.
Stuff like Ex Machina and Her simply wouldn't fold out like it shows |

I'll have to go with 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968).

My favorite about this subject is Bicentennial Man. Robin Williams stars as a robot who quickly develops emotions, while others of his kind do not. Over the course of the next 200 years, he embarks on a personal quest to become an ordinary human being. Its a very good film, that bombed in the box office mainly because the trailer played up all the humor without showing the drama.
