That steel book cover looks amazing. And the tentacles on the back is a great touch! I remember reading there was also going to be an extended edition.. I wonder if that’s still happening or if they ditched that idea entirely following box office performance?

Yeah, that's my only nitpick with the Steelbook. A clear slip with the title would have been cool.

I wouldn't trust that reviewer, frankly. There were lots of kids when I saw this at the theater and they were clearly having a good time.

It looks like a really, really, bad shop, honestly. Combined with the nightmare fuel cgi characters on the front, they really should have picked a different image.

I guess there were budget cutbacks that forced them to choose between a title on the front or the spine. Good thing they didn't have cutbacks to the point where they didn't have the title on BOTH.

Love the look of the steelbook. The movie however, didn't do much for me at all. The whole thing just screams "Why?" to me. I don't mean the Ariel change, I just mean the whole movie adds absolutely nothing and I can't think of a circumstance where I would want to watch it again over the OG.

Some here might be saying "duh, it's just a live action remake" but the best of the LA remakes imo have taken the original story then added on to it, so they are well worth watching by themselves (Jungle Book, Aladdin, Cinderella)

That all being said, I might still get it if gets cheap sometime since my son liked it.

I don't think that's true at all. In the original, Ariel got to sing only one of the major songs. The new version is a much better musical, giving at least one song to each of the major characters, and more to Ariel. She is, after all the title character, so it makes sense to expand her songs.
