Default Castle Crashers out now on PS3

http://comic-con.gamespot.com/story/...ers-first-look

Video on the link as well

Quote:
We get an early look at what happens when the Behemoth brings its colorful medieval brawler to the PlayStation 3.

Castle Crashers has been one of the bright lights on Xbox Live Arcade since it was released last August. The stylized side-scrolling brawler offered a winning mix of solid action, quirky charm, and four-player co-op play. Unfortunately, PlayStation 3 owners haven't been able to get in on the fun--until now. The Behemoth is taking the wraps off of Castle Crashers for the PlayStation 3 at Comic-Con today, and showing off the first playable version of the upcoming downloadable title. We paid the California-based developer a visit for a first look.

For those of you who aren't already familiar with the game, Castle Crashers follows four knights as they head out to rescue their respective special ladies who've been princess-napped (a common problem in games). The road to rescue sends the knights up against hordes of enemies but, with teamwork, a little help from their animal friends, a variety of different weapons, magic, and some leveling up, a happy ending is guaranteed. The game takes a light action-RPG approach to the head busting by letting you earn experience and level different stats on your knight, such as strength, defense, agility, and magic. The end result on the Xbox 360 was a fun game that got even better when you played co-operatively with friends online. As a bonus, the Behemoth also included an arena to fight with friends and a food-gorging minigame.

All of the above is on its way to the PlayStation 3, with the appropriate tweaks, such as trophy support, for Sony's platform. The Behemoth isn't offering much in terms of information on exclusive content for the PlayStation 3 game beyond saying that it's still to be determined. The air of mystery also extends to the game's release date, which the team is keeping quiet about for the moment. The best we could get out of them was that they're working to get the game out as soon as they can and that development is going well.

Castle Crashers looks set to make a splash on PS3.
As far as how the PS3 game looks and plays, the demo that we checked out was already running well and certainly looked to be on par with the Xbox 360 game. The action is smooth and responsive, and the colorful visuals look as crisp as ever. From the look of things Castle Crashers should be a good addition to the PlayStation Network library. A straight port of the Xbox 360 game will be a lot of fun, but we're hopeful that the PS3 version might also benefit from some additional content. Look for more on Castle Crashers for the PlayStation 3 in the months to come.
Castle Crashers + Fat Princess =

DANG. I just bought the 360 version, the only XBOX game I ever bought on-line and now it's coming out on the PS3!!

Just so everyone know, this one of the best XBL games on the 360, it's a 2D side-scrolling hack n' slash game like Double Dragon... The best of all, you can play 4-player co-op and level your guys up... It's a lot of fun!! It would be great if they add some exclusive content on the PS3 version, if so I'll re-buy it on the PS3...

Ironically, I was going to buy this last week on 360 but opted to get Monkey Island instead. Glad I waited. Looking forward to this on PS3. =)

I really enjoyed playing this with my friend on the 360. Will definitely buy the PS3 version so I can go through the entire game.

New video interview on the blog

Quote:
Castle Crashers Coming to PSN
Posted by Chris Morell // Senior Specialist, Social Media
Hidden amongst the madness of the Comic-Con 2009 show floor was a gem. Castle Crashers, a game that some hoped would eventually come to PS3, is finally headed our way. If you’re unfamiliar, it’s a really clever downloadable co-op action game that utilizes some cool RPG elements for great results. And it was officially announced for PSN at Comic-Con.
We cornered the kind folks at The Behemoth for a little back and forth, so take a look at the video to find out why you need to keep your eye out for Castle Crashers. And get to know these guys because they promised to come back on the Blog when they have even more to talk about.

I'm pretty stoked for this to arrive on PSN. I haven't had a chance to play it, since we're a Sony/Nintendo household. Looks like super fun!

Unless this is like 5.99 or something, there's no way I'm getting this. Looks like it might be fun, but not at 10.00+

I've been burned by too many games. lol

When was this game for free? I've only seen it on the xbox so I don't think it's on the pc. Are you thinking of a different game?

Anyway, this was one of the games on the xbox that I wished was on the ps3 (along with Braid & Geometry Wars 2). So this game (& Braid too!) becoming multiplatform is awesome!!!

Ill tell you a little secret, the original for it and Alien one were original flash titles from newgrounds.com which is a user community of flash artists..

Well it would seem though that they raised the production values a bit.. lol

Ah btw one of the founders for the company is also the founder of newgrounds, I would rather see him bring out pico, but I would imagine no one would let him publish that lol.. or the samurai game he never finished.. after the smurfs defeated the samurai.

For me, the two 360 games I want on PS3 are Peggle and 'Splosion Man. I also loved Geometry Wars, but Super Stardust HD is way the hell better, so I don't need GW anymore.

And, honestly, I didn't like Castle Crashers or Braid that much.
