It appears so.

This has been in the works for a while. They were hoping to have it done in time for Terminator: Salvation's release but that didn't happen. They discussed this in the Ask Digital Bits thread in the Insider Discussion area.

I am sure people will still ***** that it is not good enought. Just like they did when they put out T2. I hope there transfier is good enough for people who need perfection in everything.

no need for hyperbole, friend. I dont think people are expecting "perfection", just an improvement upon the original transfer from a couple years back. As an aside, I dont mind grain, and I thought the Terminator copy I have now is decent but decidedly flat.

Hot damn, was that slipcover edition of Terminator ever pointless... I hope no one jumped on that recent release.

I might be mistaken but the reviews I saw for the T2 Skynet edition didnt seem to give the indication that other than the lossless sound, the bluray was any better or worse than the prev release.

I haven't seen Terminator 1 on blu ray yet nor am I familiar Van Ling, but would the skynet edition be that much better than the 1st one? Is the quality really bad? (excluding lossless)

Thanks

With regards to the first film, there's only so much they can do with the video given that it was a low budget film show on cheap film stock. The first BD didn't really look any better than the DVD, IMO.

the audio was a very awesome upgrade, PQ improvement was marginal but apparent to those with attention to detail.

They worked on this restored T1 edition since 2007. They are just waiting for Cameron to approve/modify it.

The difference being that "The Terminator" has a true restoration done by Lowry Digital waiting on James Cameron's approval while "T2" just had some lazy DNR and contrast boosting applied by the studio.

Give the guys some time. They will restore T2 as well. It's relatively "young" and shot on high quality film stock.
