Ooooo, I might have to get this.
The inclusion of the absolutely insane US cut in here is really pushing it over the edge for me. Definitely not the preferred way of viewing the film but it's such an weird cut of the film that I wish was included on older editions. |

This looks like an outstanding edition for this film. I'm tempted to pre-order it but I also have a suspicion it might come out this year as a Vinegar Syndrome partner label title. Though it would likely be missing the book, it might make sense to wait and see what the price is and get the US edition. I might spring for the import, though.

I think part of this calculation will also depend on whether one wants the existing director-approved 4K restoration, which was apparently only completed in SDR, or whether one wants a home video label to attempt to convert that restoration to HDR.

The Umbrella mentions Director Approved transfer and the LCQF was not that to my understanding. The Mondo/SS were approved before he died.

I would think there's only one 4K restoration and not two. And if there were two why would the French label pick the unapproved one? I guess anything's possible though |

Hoping Mondo Vision finally clears this up because if there's only one new master (the one they've apparently been working on) not sure why it hasn't been released in the states yet unless there's regular production stuff they haven't cleared-up after seemingly going dormant for so long. |

"Umbrella presents the director approved 4K restoration of Possession on 4K UHD!" So it's very possible if not likely that the transfer as seen on the LCQF disc is the same transfer, and it is director approved Some may like a different color timing, but it would not be the first time people liked something other than the director's preference - and that is what I was referring to above. |
