Default Dicks: The Musical (2023)

Trailer:

In cinemas September 29, 2023
Quote:
Two self-obsessed businessmen (writers Aaron Jackson & Josh Sharp) discover they’re long-lost identical twins and come together to plot the reunion of their eccentric divorced parents, in this riotously funny and depraved musical from comedy icon Larry Charles (Seinfeld, Borat) also starring Megan Thee Stallion, Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Bowen Yang as God.

A24 pretty much challenging it’s reputation with this one.

It looks too silly, but my curiosity would make me want to check it out.

That strike is looking better by the day.

Can we stop every movie from coming out until this weird era we're living in ceases to be?

I saw this today. It's a lot of fun. Some catchy songs, but nothing that stood out to me or that I actually remember. I usually don't like movies that are overly silly, but the absurdity works here. The other people in my screening were enjoying it too. Some will hate it and think it's too stupid and silly, but remember it's an absurdist comedy.

Caught a showing the other day, and absurdist is a good way to put it. It felt like a fever dream the whole time, but not in a bad way. I ate it up, and the rest of the audience did too. Walked out not quite really knowing what I'd just seen, but not regretting it.

I'll agree that sadly there wasn't any super memorable songs. I'd say the most memorable one for me was Megan Thee Stallion's song, and I'm not really a fan of her, so that says a lot.

It's a crazy, kooky movie, but everyone gives it their all, and it just seems like they're having a ton of fun doing it. Don't go in expecting a cinematic masterpiece or highbrow humor, but it definitely had a fun, flashy, extremely campy Broadway feel to it, which I liked. Many (in fact, most) probably won't like it, but I'd say it's destined to get a cult following.

I hate that this still hasn’t gotten a physical release.
