Breaking the Waves is a great film but not one I've ever thought has been screaming out for 4K.

I would've been all over this had it been a 4K set.

The artwork suits. I haven't looked closely. I hope there are no literal symbols.

Great looking set. A bit weird that Breaking The Waves is apparently not included as 4K disc like the individual release.
And also why is Dancer in the Dark missing !?

And please bring Melancholia to 4K next!!

I wish they'd get over this obsession with their own company name, which they seem to want to feature more prominently than the filmmaker.
The different text directions and orientations on the spine are also pretty annoying.

Don't understand why they're releasing a separate 4K of Breaking the Waves at the same time, who wants to buy a massively expensive box set and have to double dip on the same day to get the newest version?

They're getting a lot right with these boxes but still making a lot of weird choices.

They did the same thing with they Wenders and Bong sets to be fair to them, so that’s at least consistent. And they’ve gone back to releasing box sets first, which is at least fair on us mere mortals who have felt betrayed by their past release schedules.

As for Dancer in the Dark, it might still be with Film4 and they couldn’t acquire the rights. Perhaps BFI or Indicator could get it one day?

Potemkine France will release an even bigger collection in November: 14 movies 2 telefilms and 4 short films.

I have next to zero interest in owning a box set of everything Trier has done, but I hope there's an individual release of Dogville at some point.

The RRP (£140) is lower than I predicted. Trier is a very hit-and-miss filmmaker for me, so not likely to purchase unless it plummets in price or receives a budget repackaging.

At least we didn't get anything on the packaging as obnoxious as that publicity shot of him gagged - the provocateur image really takes a lot away from his work IMO.

By coincidence, picked up Melancholia on Blu-ray for 50p in a charity shop yesterday.

I would like to pre-order but his work and the medium he uses on most of his films can be really messed up.

I can't put my faith in no restorations / transfers on films he shot on video etc cause way too many variables for them to be monkeyed with.

I can already see posts of people getting set saying previous BLU looked better than the new one.. new one had more DNR applied etc.

I really really hate that so many filmmakers thought shooting on a video format 20 years ago was such a good idea. Includes LYNCH.

Always try to imagine these on actual film stock (that were shot on video)

I'd say they're crossing the line, heavily implying they own copyright. I hope they get ordered to pulp.

No, no, no, no, no this can’t be real. Why does this box have to be from Curzon of all labels….? Why do these lunatics get the filmography of one of our best directors.

See for yourself how they vandalized Wim Wenders' films with their 22-film boxset: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=362757

Less than five of the films look good in here, the rest features some of the worst encoding I‘ve ever seen (Paris, Texas & Until the End of the World) and others not far away from that.

Pre-order with utmost caution and best wait for adequate reviews and screenshots.

For Paris, Texas go with the arthaus disc in Wenders' preferred European 1.66:1 aspect ratio.

Thanks, I already have that version. It’s really great. I’ve cobbled together all the best releases of his films that I could find. I’ve just seen that Carlotta in France will release The American Friend later this year in addition to Wings of Desire on BD and UHD. Hopefully there’s more as these release practically guarantee a David M encode.

Not really interested in this set - the more recent movies included have been on sale individually for as low as £6 before, and the remaining ones are not so important to me that I'd fork out for the set. And as others have noted, the branding on the box is awful. No other label I know of does this.

Hopefully Manderlay and Dogville get individual releases as those are the ones I'm most interested in.

The artwork is cool. Most of the films I haven’t seen, Europa and Element of Crime are excellent though. Epidemic wasn’t that big on
